Your Position & How You Will Contribute:
Reporting to the Field Operations Manager, the Field Service Technician will work both independently and in a team environment to provide outstanding client support to telMAX’s residential and business customer base. telMAX’s mission is to provide homes and businesses with exceptionally reliable, fast, secure and affordable fibre Internet, TV, and Phone Services at the same time as providing our customers with the best possible support. The Field Service Technician’s primary responsibilities include installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair services on telMAX’s fibre Internet, TV, and Phone services using the latest in systems and cutting-edge technology.
Responsibilities & Key Duties:
- Deliver an outstanding, professional customer experience at every visit.
- Install, maintain, and repair fibre-optic Internet, TV, and Phone services in residential and business settings.
- Diagnose and resolve issues with FTTH (Fibre to the Home) systems, fibre splicing, and customer premise equipment.
- Set up and support streaming and smart devices (Chromecast, Apple TV, Amazon Fire Stick, Android devices, etc.).
- Respond to service events identified by our Customer Support Centre and accurately document all troubleshooting steps.
- Stay up to date on telMAX products, systems, and network changes through regular training and hands-on learning.
- Follow all telMAX and Provincial Health & Safety policies and procedures.
What You Bring:
- Installing, maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing fibre optic services & devices.
- Troubleshooting and connecting customer streaming devices (e.g. Chromecast, Apple, Android, Amazon Stick) & cable modems.
- Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Incident management.
- Experience in Cable Splicing.
- Troubleshooting in FTTH networks, coaxial cable plant, and headend facilities.
- Have the ability to distinguish colours.
Experience:
- Minimum 2-5 years of experience in a field service role. Ideally, the applicant will have some experience in engineering, networking and/or telecommunications.
- Must be available to work weekends, evenings, holidays, and be able to work in all our current and future build areas. Must be flexible to work rotating evenings, weekends and on call shifts. And must be able to work efficiently in any weather condition.
- A valid G class Drivers License with a clean driving record.
Education:
- High School Diploma required.
- College Certificate or equivalent training in Telecommunications, Networking, or Electronics preferred.
