Work hours: Full Time (7P-7A) for 36 hrs/week. Weekend and holiday requirements

Department highlights:

• Self-Scheduling that helps with work/life balance as well as opportunities for educational and career growth

• Robust Unit Based Council (UBC) and engaged leadership team

• 38 bed Acute Medical unit improves the quality of care for the medical patient. Patients are admitted to this floor for multiple acute chronic diseases such as TB, GI, Pneumonia, Dialysis, Ortho as well as trachs, isolations and cardiac overflow. All beds can be tele monitored

• We are a General Medicine Residency unit which has Medicine Interns and second and third year Physicians on the unit 24/7.

• No Lift Environment - unit has been recognized for not having employee injuries for over 10 years. Come work with the Best!

Here's What You Need

• Associate degree from an accredited Nursing program or Nursing Diploma required

• BSN preferred

• One-year experience as a registered nurse, or completion of an RN residency program.

• Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire

• BCLS (AHA) prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly

• CPI training within 90 days of hire

• 2+ years Med/Surg RN experience in an acute care setting preferred.

• Prefer strong med/surg experience including charge/preceptor skills



What You Will Do

Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process

• Assesses the patient

• Plans the care of the patient

• Intervenes as appropriate

• Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions

• Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.

• Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information

• Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
