About This Position
This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Chief Compliance Officer in the United States.
This role offers a unique opportunity to lead and shape the compliance and legal infrastructure of a fast-growing fintech organization in the U.S. You will own end-to-end compliance for all federal and state regulatory requirements, including BSA/AML, OFAC, and consumer protection standards, while managing Money Transmitter Licenses across multiple states. The position combines hands-on regulatory engagement with strategic leadership, enabling you to build scalable compliance programs from the ground up. This is a high-impact, autonomous role where your judgment, regulatory credibility, and commercial acumen will directly influence business growth and risk mitigation. You will also have the opportunity to grow into a broader global compliance leadership role as the organization expands across corridors and products.
- Design, implement, and maintain U.S. BSA/AML compliance programs in line with FinCEN requirements and the Bank Secrecy Act
- Manage SAR and CTR filings, CIP/CDD/EDD frameworks, OFAC sanctions compliance, and adverse media monitoring
- Own and administer Money Transmitter Licenses (MTL) across all active U.S. states, including renewals, amendments, new applications, and regulatory examinations
- Ensure compliance with federal consumer protection laws, including Reg E (Remittance Transfer Rule) and CFPB standards
- Build and maintain compliance policies, procedures, controls, and training programs for U.S.-facing staff and relevant global teams
- Provide day-to-day legal support on commercial agreements, product launches, operational decisions, and corporate governance matters
- Engage directly with regulators, external counsel, and internal stakeholders, translating complex regulatory requirements into actionable guidance
- Maintain compliance risk registers, oversee compliance technology, and support global legal and regulatory projects
- 5–8 years of compliance experience in financial services, with a strong focus on U.S. MSB, money transmission, or fintech compliance
- Deep knowledge of FinCEN BSA/AML requirements, OFAC sanctions frameworks, and state MTL regulations
- Proven experience managing MTL portfolios, state regulatory exams, and NMLS administration
- Familiarity with Reg E, CFPB consumer protection obligations, and risk-based compliance program development
- Hands-on experience building or significantly enhancing compliance programs in growth-stage or scaling environments
- Confidence in independently engaging with federal and state regulators
- Strong written, analytical, and communication skills, capable of producing board-quality reporting and internal guidance
- Bachelor’s degree required; JD, CAMS, or equivalent professional qualification strongly preferred
- Preferred: cross-border remittance or international regulatory experience, exposure to compliance tech stack, and experience with multi-corridor payment operations
- Competitive U.S. fintech market salary with equity participation
- Comprehensive healthcare coverage (medical, dental, vision)
- Paid time off and flexible working arrangements
- Opportunity to own U.S. compliance end-to-end and shape global compliance strategy
- High-impact role with direct access to senior leadership and regulators
- Professional growth potential into a global compliance leadership position
- Exposure to cutting-edge fintech regulatory and operational frameworks
