Job Description

Role Summary

The Woodshop Lead is entrusted with managing daily production operations, enforcing established safety standards, and supervising personnel to ensure timely completion of projects. Responsibilities include interpreting technical drawings, executing advanced fabrication procedures, conducting rigorous quality control inspections, maintaining equipment, and providing training to team members. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of three to seven years of relevant experience and demonstrate proficiency in CAD/CAM applications, CNC operations, and shop mathematics.

Key Responsibilities
  • Production Leadership: Review daily job assignments, oversee scheduling, and ensure efficient workflow within the manufacturing process.
  • Quality Control: Conduct inspections to verify the accuracy, craftsmanship, and completeness of products prior to shipment.
  • Safety Management: Maintain compliance with 6S standards, ensure the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and uphold all company safety policies.
  • Technical Expertise: Interpret blueprints and shop drawings to fabricate, cut, and assemble products in accordance with specifications.
  • Machine & Inventory Maintenance: Supervise the upkeep of tools and machinery, manage inventory, and procure consumable materials as required.
  • Team Training: Provide mentorship to shop staff regarding fabrication techniques and safety procedures.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Experience: A minimum of three to five years in a professional woodworking environment; leadership experience is preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Comprehensive knowledge of woodworking machinery, including saws, routers, CNC machines, and sanders, as well as finishing techniques.
  • Math & Drafting: Proficiency in shop mathematics (to 1/32") and the ability to interpret detailed technical drawings.
  • Physical Ability: Capability to lift at least 50 lbs and stand for extended durations.
  • Communication: Demonstrated strength in leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • High School Diploma or GED required; trade certification is a plus.

This position reports to the Plant Supervisor.
