Summary:
A Senior Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer I plays a critical role in shaping both the electrical and instrument & control engineering functions. This role is responsible for significant technical leadership on multiple projects, guiding design philosophy, ensuring technical integrity across both disciplines, and actively participating in the development of the engineering team and standards.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provision of lead technical direction and oversight for multiple concurrent instrumentation, control, and electrical engineering projects or project phases.
- Establish design philosophies, criteria, and guidelines for instrumentation, control, and electrical engineering deliverables.
- Perform high-level technical reviews and approvals for all I&E engineering documentation, ensuring quality and compliance.
- Guide in the resolution of complex and multidisciplinary technical challenges involving power systems, control systems, and integrated facility design.
- Mentoring and development of instrumentation and electrical engineers, fostering their growth and ensuring technical Excellence.
- Significant contribution to project planning, scheduling, and budgeting from an instrumentation and electrical engineering perspective.
- Representation of the I&E discipline in client meetings, inter-discipline coordination, and regulatory interactions.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives for instrumentation and electrical engineering processes, tools, and standards.
- Participate in proposal development, estimating electrical, instrumentation, and control scopes of work for new projects.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrated expertise in electrical power system design, protection, and control, as well as instrumentation and control system design, implementation, and lifecycle management for large-scale industrial facilities.
- Proven ability to manage and lead technical teams effectively.
- Expert proficiency with electrical design and analysis software, as well as multiple control system platforms (DCS, PLC, SCADA) and related design/simulation software.
- Deep understanding and practical application of relevant industry codes and standards.
- Exceptional problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to innovate and optimize instrumentation and electrical engineering solutions.
- Experience in developing and implementing engineering standards and best practices.
- Team player – able to communicate and relate well with others.
Qualifications:
- Minimum: Bachelor’s degree (ABET) Electrical Engineering
- Preferred: Master’s degree (ABET) Electrical Engineering
- 10-15 years Minimum Work Experience
- Certification: Professional Engineer (PE)
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Occasional lifting of office supplies or equipment up to 20 pounds.
- Ability to move around the office to access files, office equipment, and attend meetings.
