We’re excited to host an Onsite Interview Day on March 16, 2026 for the Porter role at JASA’s Scheuer Coney Island Older Adult Center. Candidates whose applications are selected will have the opportunity to interview directly with the hiring manager.

Schedule & Hours:
Shift: Monday–Friday, 9AM–5PM
Hours per Week: 35
About the Scheuer Coney Island Older Adult Center:
JASA’s Scheuer Coney Island Older Adult Center provides safe, clean, and welcoming spaces where older adults can socialize, learn new skills, and access essential services.
Porters play a critical role in ensuring that our center remains safe, functional, and well-maintained for staff and members. In this role, you will perform custodial duties, minor repairs, and space setup while supporting the overall operations of the center.
What You’ll Be Doing:
As a Porter, your responsibilities will include:
Cleaning, dusting, mopping, washing, and waxing floors
Cleaning windows, fixtures, and furniture
Shampooing, sweeping, or vacuuming floors
Emptying wastebaskets and collecting and disposing of trash
Cleaning and disinfecting kitchen and restroom areas
Restocking paper and sanitation supplies as needed
Performing minor repairs, including painting, plumbing, electrical, and furniture maintenance
Cleaning equipment in mechanical rooms and maintaining organized workspaces
Setting up rooms for programs, classes, and meetings
Opening and closing the building, including securing offices and ensuring lights are off
Assisting with emergency preparedness, including Cooling Center preparation
Performing additional duties as assigned by the Director of Facilities and Operations
Qualifications:
High school diploma preferred
Ability to read, speak, and follow directions in English
Physical ability to perform heavy lifting, move furniture, climb stairs and ladders, and bend frequently
Valid driver’s license preferred
Flexibility to work extended hours, weekends, or special assignments as needed
Strong attention to detail, reliability, and a proactive approach to maintaining clean and safe spaces
