Job Description

Job Summary:

The Senior Research Manager will play a lead role on two Project Zero projects: The Open Canopy project and the Good Starts project. Working closely and collaboratively with the Principal Investigators and other senior researchers, this individual will actively participate in the intellectual work of the project and will have the following specific responsibilities:

  1. Lead the exploration of a potential collaboration between The Open Canopy and the Tenement Museum of New York, and other entities.
  2. Lead the design and pilot of a specialized professional development experience for Open Canopy teachers. This process will include creating assets that could be used beyond this specific professional development sequence (e.g. video segments, written guidelines).
  3. Lead the data collection and analysis regarding the impact of the professional development experience and make recommendations for future Open Canopy professional development offerings and research.
  4. Lead a project to map out the Greater Boston early childhood education research community for the Good Starts project in order to identify possible connections, overlaps, and gaps.
  5. Participate in regular meetings with the each project team, providing feedback and input on the project’s direction, work fronts, and various work products.

This is a term position with an end date of 6/30/26 with likelihood of continuation.


Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

Master's degree required, preferably in education or a related field (doctorate preferred). At least 5 years’ related experience in the field of intercultural education.

Additional Qualifications:

Demonstrated familiarity with and interest in intercultural learning and learning across the K-12 sector. Demonstrated experience and ability to design high quality professional development experiences, conduct qualitative research, and work both independently and within a team context.


Additional Information

  • Appointment End Date: This is a term position with an end date of 6/30/26 with likelihood of continuation.
  • Standard Hours/Schedule: 21 hours per week
  • Compensation Range/Rate (including Shift Differential if applicable): $54,000

    Work Format Details

    This position has been determined by school or unit leaders that some of the duties and responsibilities can be effectively performed at a non-Harvard location. The work schedule and location will be set by the department at its discretion and based upon operational needs. When not working at a Harvard or Harvard-designated location, employees in hybrid positions must work in a Harvard registered state in compliance with the University’s Policy on Employment Outside of Massachusetts. Additional details will be discussed during the interview process. Certain visa types and funding sources may limit work location. Individuals must meet work location sponsorship requirements prior to employment.
