Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Welder to support fabrication, repair, and maintenance services across our various industrial uranium mining and processing operations. The Welder is responsible for performing high-quality welds on structural components, piping systems, mechanical equipment, and plant infrastructure in a heavy industrial environment.
The ideal candidate will have experience with multiple welding processes, strong blueprint reading skills, and a commitment to safety, precision, and workmanship in regulated industrial operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform MIG, TIG, and Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) on a variety of materials including carbon steel, stainless steel, pipe, sheet metal, and structural components
- Fabricate, repair, and modify piping systems, structural supports, mechanical components, and plant equipment
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to determine welding specifications and tolerances
- Operate fabrication equipment including plasma cutters, press brakes, grinders, and other shop machinery
- Utilize precision measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers to ensure dimensional accuracy
- Perform pipe fitting, threading, assembly, and structural layout
- Assist with rigging operations and material handling; operate forklifts as needed (if qualified)
- Inspect completed welds to ensure compliance with applicable codes and internal quality standards
- Maintain accurate documentation of work performed
- Follow confined space, hot work, and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Working Conditions
- Exposure to extreme heat, high humidity, direct sunlight, and variable weather conditions
- Welding fumes, grinding dust, and airborne particulates
- Industrial noise levels requiring hearing protection
- Hot work environments and elevated temperatures
- Rotating equipment and heavy machinery
- Naturally Occurring Radioactive Material (NORM) in controlled environments
- Remote field locations requiring travel on unpaved or uneven terrain
Physical Demands
- Standing and walking for extended periods
- Frequent bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, and climbing ladders or stairways for extended periods
- Working at heights from ladders, platforms, or elevated structures
- Accessing confined spaces and equipment enclosures
- Lifting and carrying materials, tools, and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds independently (heavier items with assistance)
- Repetitive use of hands and arm movements during welding and fabrication tasks
- Working in awkward positions for extended periods
- Visual acuity sufficient to inspect weld quality and read technical drawings
- Ability to wear required PPE and respiratory protection for extended durations
- Candidates must be able to successfully complete: pre-employment physical examination (if applicable), respirator medical clearance (if required)
Qualifications
- Proven experience in industrial, construction, or manufacturing welding environments
- Proficiency in MIG, TIG, and FCAW welding processes
- Experience with plasma cutting and metal fabrication equipment
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and welding specifications
- Strong mechanical aptitude including pipe fitting, assembly, and structural fabrication
- Familiarity with applicable welding codes and standards
- Skilled in using precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, squares, etc.)
- Basic math skills for measurement and layout calculations
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and quality workmanship
- Must be able to read and write in English
- Must have a valid driver’s license
