This role is focused on ensuring the stability, performance, and security of mission-critical SQL Server database environments supporting complex enterprise systems. You will be responsible for managing database infrastructure across production environments, ensuring high availability and optimized performance for business applications. The position requires strong technical expertise in database administration, performance tuning, and disaster recovery planning. You will collaborate closely with development, infrastructure, and business teams to support application reliability and continuous improvement. In this remote-first environment, you will play a key role in maintaining data integrity and enabling scalable system performance. This is a hands-on technical role where precision, problem-solving, and proactive monitoring are essential to operational success.
- Administer, monitor, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases to ensure high availability, reliability, and optimal performance.
- Optimize database performance through indexing strategies, query tuning, and efficient resource management.
- Design and implement backup, restore, and disaster recovery solutions to ensure data protection and business continuity.
- Plan and execute database upgrades, patches, and migrations with minimal system disruption.
- Apply security best practices including encryption, authentication, access control, and auditing to safeguard sensitive data.
- Collaborate with developers, system administrators, and analysts to support application deployment, troubleshooting, and optimization.
- Use monitoring tools such as SQL Server Profiler, Performance Monitor, and Extended Events to proactively identify and resolve issues.
- Support ETL and reporting processes using SSIS and SSRS as needed.
- 5+ years of experience as a Database Administrator in a production SQL Server environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Strong expertise in SQL Server (2017, 2019, 2022) administration, configuration, and optimization.
- Hands-on experience with Always-On Availability Groups, clustering, and database replication.
- Proven ability to design and manage backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
- Knowledge of SSIS and SSRS for data integration and reporting.
- Familiarity with cloud database environments (Azure preferred).
- Experience with Windows Server environments; VMware, Postgres, or MySQL is a plus.
- Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently with high accuracy in a fast-paced technical environment.
- US Citizenship required.
- Competitive salary range: $105,000 – $132,000 annually (based on experience and location factors).
