Position Summary:

Media Monitoring Associates are an indispensable part of the DNC’s rapid response operation. In real-time, they track and clip notable moments from news coverage, interviews and political commentary. Our Media Monitoring Associates hold Republicans accountable by sharing strategic insights that support the DNC’s opposition research program and other departments that produce public-facing content. Responsibilities:

  • Identify and clip short segments of media to share on social media platforms
  • Provide concise summaries of audio and video content, including key points, context, and strategic alignment with DNC messaging
  • Save and document content in coordination with the rest of the Rapid Response team and the Research Department

Qualifications:

  • Background or interest in social media and/or political research
  • Demonstrated fluency and passion for keeping up with the 24/7 news cycle and current events
  • Ability to quickly identify and succinctly summarize significant developments or findings to a wide variety of audiences
  • Ability to work independently, learn new systems, ask questions, remain responsive, and keep open lines of communication in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Able and willing to work shifts as needed outside of standard business hours, on weekends or holidays
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • At least one year of progressive political and/or campaign experience strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of what works on social platforms (especially Twitter/X, Instagram, and TikTok) and familiarity with Snapstream, TV Eyes, IQMedia, and Snagit a plus

Salary: The starting salary for the Media Monitoring Associate position is $54,100, on an annualized basis, commensurate with experience and qualifications. This is a full-time, non-exempt position, which means you will be eligible for overtime pay for hours worked in excess of 40 in a given workweek. This position is in the bargaining unit represented by SEIU Local-500.
