POSITION OVERVIEW
This full-time position will serve a critical role in advancing East Coast Zoological Foundation brand through creative work that engages target audiences and drives revenue. This position serves as creative lead for 1) internal design projects requested by departments and 2) liaison to the creative team of outside agency to produce and adapt creative with established style guides.
Seeking a self-motivated team player with understanding of creative for marketing and advertising, a strong grasp of graphic fundamentals, typography and design layout, capable of producing original ideas and content for multiple mediums and audiences. Attention to detail, a keen aesthetic sense, and the ability to efficiently manage multiple projects across are essential for this role.

QUALIFICATIONS
Essential Functions:
- Serve as the internal design leader that executes the vision for ECZF brand and sub-brands, setting standards for quality and brand alignment across the organization.
- Work with Marketing and Communications to produce marketing materials, digital ads, social media graphics, presentations, website visuals, print materials and more.
- Collaborate closely with ECZF departments to brainstorm, conceptualize, and develop new, effective visuals that meet the needs and goals for each department.
- Collaborate closely with ECZF’s agency of record to support the production of new and established creative for the ECZF brand and sub-brands
- Create and maintain libraries of design assets and templates.
- Manage multiple concurrent projects, ensuring high-quality, on-time delivery and alignment with organizational goals.
- Incorporate feedback from team members and revise designs as needed to meet project goals.
- Ensure consistency and cohesion in the use and display of ECZF’s brand standards.
- Facilitate clear communication from project inception to completion.
- Ensure designs are accessible and comply with relevant accessibility standards.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong grasp of typography, color theory, layout and visual storytelling
- Proven ability to work with and build upon established brand guidelines
- Proven ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage projects with diverse design requirements, strict deadlines, and budget constraints
- Ability to constructively accept team feedback, respond promptly to new information and directions, and revise designs as needed
- Proficiency in quickly and efficiently editing images and design assets
- Familiarity with current visual design trends and their application
- Understanding of accessible design principles
- Knowledge of photo and font usage rights
- Excellent communication, organizational and time management skills
EDUCATION AND RELEVANT EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
REQUIRED:
- Minimum of three years of experience in the graphic design industry
- High proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop in particular)
PREFERRED/DESIRED:
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in graphic arts or design
- Previous experience at a nonprofit, cultural institution, or attraction is a plus
- Motion graphics experience is a plus
- Website design experience is a plus
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
(L) Light work
Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force as frequently as needed to move objects. If the use of arm/leg controls require exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated as light work.
POTENTIAL ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS/HAZARDS
Indoor office environment most often with frequent movement outdoors. Exposure to extreme heat and weather conditions. Requires Sitting, Standing, Walking, Bending, Stooping, Kneeling, Finger Dexterity, Talking, Hearing, and Visual Acuity frequently.
WORK SCHEDULE
May be required to work weekends and nights if necessary.
