Job Summary

Rooted in the Nak’azdli Whut’en principle of Lha’ut’en — “Help Each Other,” the Lha’ut’en Program Support Worker provides essential logistical and coordination support for community programs, events, workshops, awareness campaigns, and celebrations organized through the Health Centre.

The role focuses on operational and logistical preparation once a program or event has been planned by a Program Lead or Coordinator. The worker ensures that venues, supplies, vendors, and event materials are arranged so that programs can run smoothly.

By managing these operational details, the position allows Health Centre staff to focus on program delivery and community support, while ensuring events are organized, welcoming, and culturally respectful.

Key Responsibilities:

Program & Event Support

  • Receive finalized program plans from Program Leads or Coordinators
  • Coordinate venue bookings and confirm event locations.
  • Arrange food, supplies, equipment, and materials for programs and events.
  • Contact vendors, Elders, guest speakers, or facilitators as required.
  • Prepare materials such as:
    • Sign-in sheets.
    • Name tags
    • Printed resources
  • Assist with event promotion through invitations and community notifications.
  • Ensure program logistics remain within approved budgets.
  • Source supplies and services in a cost-effective manner.
  • Prepare meeting and event spaces, including setup and decorations when appropriate.
  • Provide on-site logistical support during events.
  • Assist with cleanup, equipment returns, and venue reset.

Vendor & Resource Coordination

  • Communicate with vendors, suppliers, and service providers.
  • Confirm bookings and ensure services are delivered as scheduled.
  • Track supply needs and assist with purchasing approved materials.
  • Maintain an updated contact list of vendors and community partners.

Program Documentation Support

  • Collect attendance sheets and participant feedback forms.
  • Ensure receipts and invoices are collected and organized.
  • Provide documentation for Program Leads or administration after events.

Calendar & Program Coordination

  • Maintain a centralized calendar of Health Centre programs and events.
  • Coordinate scheduling between departments to prevent conflicts.
  • Communicate timelines and logistical needs with Program Leads

Other Duties:

  • Complete other related tasks assigned by the Health Manager

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Education

  • High school diploma plus relevant post-secondary training or certifications.
  • Post-secondary education in administration, event coordination, project support, or related field (asset)

Experience

  • 2–3 years’ experience in:
    • Event coordination
    • Logistics support
    • Administration or operations
  • Experience working in community based or First Nations environments is considered an asset.
  • Experience managing multiple activities or timelines.

Working Conditions:

  • Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License
  • Clear Criminal Record Check with vulnerability
  • Willingness to obtain Food Safe Certification if required.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and occasional weekends.
  • Must follow Nak’azdli Whut’en policies, confidentiality agreements, and Code of Ethics

Hours of Work

Your regular hours or work will be from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm for 7 hours per day from Monday to Friday and it is expected that all work will be completed within your regular working hours. However, you may be required from time to time to work outside your normal hours of work or on weekends.
