Position Summary
Reporting to the Controller, the Senior Accountant – FIRPTA Specialist plays a key role assisting in the management of the firm’s accounting operations while ensuring compliance with GAAP, firm policies, and IRS FIRPTA regulations. This position is ideal for an experienced accounting professional who thrives in a collaborative, multi-office environment and has specialized knowledge of foreign investment real estate transactions.
Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare IRS FIRPTA forms 8288 and 8288-A in compliance with IRS FIRPTA regulations for real estate transactions.
  • Maintain accurate records of FIRPTA-related transactions and reporting deadlines.
  • Assist with month-end close, including financial worksheets, analysis, and reconciliations.
  • Prepare accurate revenue reports for all revenue-producing personnel.
  • Prepare annual multi-office tangible personal property tax filings.
  • Reconcile and analyze trust account transactions.
  • Perform financial analysis and support the preparation of financial statements and management reports.
  • Assist with compliance requirements and ad hoc projects as assigned by the Controller.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA preferred but not necessary.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in real estate, transactional accounting, or multi-office environments.
  • Knowledge of FIRPTA compliance, reporting, and IRS documentation requirements.
  • Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel (pivot tables required).
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and general accounting principles.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills, able to explain complex accounting and tax requirements to non-experts.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
