The SR Field Applications Engineer will be the bridge between technical solutions and successful customer implementation, enabling next-generation optical connectivity systems. With exposure to advanced technologies and direct customer interaction, this role provides both technical growth and impactful contributions to high-performance optical networks.
Provide direct technical support and applications engineering for passive optical connectivity solutions, including silicon photonics and PIC coupling applications.
Collaborate with customers to develop, validate, and optimize optical connectivity solutions for single-fiber, multi-fiber, and expanded beam systems.
Conduct technical training sessions on fiber optic inspection, cleaning, testing methodologies, and best practices.
Assist customers with optical system performance analysis, including loss budget calculations, insertion loss, return loss, and connector performance validation.
Support mechanical integration and optical system design using 3D CAD tools such as Creo or SolidWorks.
Capture customer requirements, document technical challenges, and communicate insights to internal product, engineering, and architecture teams.
Provide hands-on testing, inspection, and performance validation for fiber optic systems, while supporting advanced optical integration projects.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field.
5–7 years of experience in optical systems, fiber optics, or photonics with customer-facing technical experience.
Strong understanding of optical principles, fiber connector technologies, and system integration.
Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical problems and provide effective customer support.
Proficiency or willingness to learn 3D CAD tools (Creo, SolidWorks) for optical/mechanical system design.
Knowledge of fiber polarity management, polarization maintaining fiber, and fusion splicing preferred.
Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with a customer-focused mindset.
Willingness to work remotely in Silicon Valley and travel as needed.
Preferred: experience in telecommunications, data center, or AI/hyperscale computing applications, and hands-on optical testing experience.
