Position Overview
The Value-Add Systems – Application Specialist plays a key role in supporting customers, sales teams, and internal production groups by providing technical expertise on mechanical and pneumatic products, systems, and solutions. This position combines mechanical engineering knowledge with customer-facing communication, documentation and assembly procedure support, ensuring successful production builds of value-add systems.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem solver with strong technical aptitude, excellent communication skills, and the ability to translate complex engineering concepts into value-add solutions through CS Automation’s Assembly Dept
Essential Job Functions
- Serve as the primary technical expert for mechanical and pneumatic components that are specified within value-add systems.
- Assist outside sales in evaluating customer requirements and recommend optimal product configurations or solutions.
- Support product selection, sizing, and integration for new and existing applications.
- Provide pre- and post-sales technical support to customers and sales teams.
- Deliver product presentations, demos, and technical training to customers, and internal staff.
- Assist in preparing technical proposals, scopes of work, and cost/labor estimates which include packaging specifications.
- Create and/or approve costed BOMs for value-add systems
- Support product qualification testing and assist with verification/validation activities.
- Create and maintain technical documentation associated with assembly production, including application notes, assembly instructions, pictures, etc.
- Work with Assembly Production Coordinator and Team Lead on fixturing/jigs needed to support assembly production.
- Create design (CAD), build instructions and documentation for value-add assemblies as needed.
The Qualified Candidate has
- Experience in technical sales or customer-facing engineering roles.
- Knowledge of fluid systems, motion control, automation, or product-specific industry technologies.
- Understanding of industry standards and certifications.
- High level of mechanical aptitude
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in mechanical design, applications engineering, or technical support.
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, materials, manufacturing processes, and CAD tools (SolidWorks, Inventor, etc.).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to translate customer needs into engineering solutions.
- Willingness to travel
