RN-CAT SCAN at Forrest General Hospital – Hattiesburg, Mississippi

Reports directly to the Radiology Patient Care Coordinator. Monitors patient vital signs and administers medications upon physicians’ orders for special procedure examinations. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served; also demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age specific needs, and to provide the care needed.

Performance expectations:

• Performs pre-procedure calls and consults in a timely and consistent manner.
• Monitors, communicates, and documents patient status during procedures, when appropriate.
• Recognizes and responds appropriately to allergic reactions to contrast media.
• Performs post-procedures assessment according to guidelines.
• Completes discharge for patient, either by calling a report to receiving area and completing a discharge summary or by discharging the patient home and completing the discharge summary. Discharge instructions, both verbal and written, are done for the patient.
• Uses two patient identifiers prior to any procedure or any medication administration.
• Demonstrates a working knowledge of hospital and departmental safety policies and procedures.
• Demonstrates proper use of radiation protective devices.

Qualifications:

Education/Skills

Graduate of a recognized non-online RN program required.

Work Experience:

Two years nursing experience preferred. Prefer nursing experience in a critical care, emergency room or med-surg area.

Certification/Licensure-DUE UPON HIRE

• Licensed RN able to practice within the State of MS
