MINIMUM MANDATORY qualifications Experience:
  • Current RN license
Education:
  • BSN or ADN in nursing
Mandatory Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Qualifications:
  • ACLS certification
  • Adaptability and a readiness to take on diverse tasks
  • Skilled in oral and written communication.
  • Knowledge of EMR documentation and workflows.
  • Strong Microsoft and Excel skills.
  • Adherence to directives
Preferred qualifications
  • 1-2 years cardiovascular experience (Cardiac Unit or Intensive Care Unit)
  • Critical care experience
  • Cardiovascular certification (CVRN, CCRN)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Adaptability and a readiness to take on diverse tasks
  • Respect for authority and adherence to directives as required
essential Duties, functions & Responsibilities
  • Patient Care: Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care for a diverse population in various clinical settings, ensuring compliance with established policies and standards.
  • Monitoring: Regularly monitor patients’ vital signs, administer medications, and provide treatments as prescribed by physicians and other advanced practice clinicians.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with interdisciplinary teams, including physicians, nursing staff, and support services, to develop and execute patient care plans.
  • Education: Educate patients and their families about health conditions, medications, and post-discharge care, ensuring understanding and adherence to treatment plans.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care in compliance with hospital policies and regulations.
  • Support: Provide emotional support and reassurance to patients and families, addressing their concerns and needs with empathy and professionalism.
  • Emergency Response: Respond promptly to emergencies and participate in resuscitation efforts when necessary.

Shared Responsibilities (Inpatient & Outpatient)

  • Telephonic communication with patients::
    • Provide pre-test instructions for stress tests and CT coronary angiograms.
    • Answer questions and address concerns.
  • Coordinate procedures with schedulers, ensuring efficient patient flow.
  • Reviews test results with patients, providing clear explanations and plan of care.
  • Documents accurate medical information in patient’s electronic health record.
  • Provide education and support to patients and families.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives.
  • Demonstrates dependability and flexibility related to work schedule and delegated duties.
  • Participate as a preceptor and departmental orientation of new staff.

Inpatient/Procedural Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for coronary CT angiograms, stress tests (nuclear, dobutamine, exercise), and echo-cardiograms.
  • Monitor patients during procedures, responding to emergencies as needed.
  • Start IV and administer medications and fluids under physician supervision.
  • Assess patitent during recovery.

Outpatient Clinic Responsibilities

  • Telephonic patient management:
    • Assess patient outcomes after initiating medical regimens.
    • Collect vital sign logs and review for abnormalities and trends.
    • Follow up care and preventative outreach.
  • Provide advice and support via phone or in-person.
  • Coordinate patient follow-up appointments and testing.
  • Educate patients on medication adherence, lifestyle modifications, and disease management.
  • Collaborate with cardiologists and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient care.
  • Assist with medication renewals per protocol, including:
    • Processing medication refill requests per protocol.
    • Verifying medication lists and dosages.
    • Communicating with physicians and pharmacists as needed.
  • Complete pre-evaluation sheets for cardiac procedures.
  • Collects comprehensive data pertinent to the patient’s health or the situation
