About This Position

Job Summary

The Corporate Controller is a member of the Ten Eight Concepts, LLC executive leadership team. The position is responsible for oversight of the accounting and administrative functions of the holding company and subsidiary operating restaurants. Core areas of responsibility include financial reporting and accounting, treasury, sales tax and regulatory reporting, human resources, benefits administration and payroll functions.

The ideal candidate will have prior experience in a senior-level finance role, possess strong communication skills and a high level of emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills. Prior experience in multi-entity financial reporting and implementing operational technology platforms is preferred.

Duties/Responsibilities

FINANCE

  • Own all aspects of finance operations, including regular financial reporting (e.g. preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP), regular reporting of consolidated business results
  • Forecasting, planning, budgeting, financial analysis, cash management, and procurement
  • Timely and accurately provide reporting of financial information to operators, government regulators, franchisor and taxing authorities, as required
  • Work directly with operations team(s) to identify inventory and cost of goods sold discrepancies and opportunities
  • Hold operators accountable for timely reporting and submission of expense and payroll information
  • Oversee complete accounting operations, including accounts payable and receivable
  • Create, maintain and distribute weekly, monthly and quarterly dashboards summarizing status, opportunities for improvement and budget to actual comparison
  • Develop protocols, procedures and controls in the accounting, finance and treasury divisions; ensures the timely reconciliation of balance sheet accounts and implements the appropriate approval processes
  • Lead and manage the annual budgeting process and update forecasts quarterly, or as needed.
  • Gather financial data for analysis and forecasting with respect to profits, trends, costs, and compliance. Work closely with operational leadership to understand trends, challenges and opportunities.
  • Provide financial updates to operational leadership by evaluating, analyzing, and reporting appropriate data points and providing meaningful feedback and help developing solutions.
  • Oversee and support accounting team with dynamic leadership that creates an environment of trust and productivity
  • Hiring, training and retaining skilled accounting staff
  • Oversight of regular sales, use, liquor and other business taxes

Human Resources/Payroll

  • Work with third party vendors and outsourced HRIS and payroll systems (Paylocity)
  • Support development, enhancements and integration of all human resource technologies; responsible for the on-going success and integration with other pertinent systems, including ERP and R365
  • Ensure the company operates in compliance with FLSA, ADA, FMLA and all other employment law and regulations
  • Bi-weekly payroll processing; manage relationship with outsourced payroll provider and payroll tax administrator. Work directly with operations managers for timekeeping issues and resolution
  • Maximize payroll efficiency through innovative process development

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills REQUIRED (Lookup, IF Statements, Pivot Tables, Advanced Formatting / Charting)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Positive attitude and willingness to help other team members. Commitment to supporting operations and providing adequate feedback and solutions as needed
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Positive, can do attitude and ability to work autonomously and independently seek out solutions
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline driven environment; ability to effectively manage accounting staff and ensure performance standards are met
  • Ability to work overtime, if needed, to meet period end deadlines
  • Knowledge of general financial and operational accounting; understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Restaurant365 and other accounting programs

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. MBA or CPA preferred
  • Fifteen or more years of financial accounting experience, to include preparation of financial statements and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Prior experience working in multi-entity environment, prior service in administrative functions outside of Finance
  • Prior experience/background in Human Resource functions
  • Hospitality / Restaurant experience strongly preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
