About This Position

BEHAVIORAL HEALTH RECEPTIONIST

  • Position Summary
    • Under general supervision, supports the medical center's mission by performing a variety of clerical, general office duties and support functions for Behavioral Health Services such as: correspondence, sorting and routing incoming mail, photocopying, greeting customers, answering the telephone, relaying messages, managing and assembling patient records, supply inventory and control, payroll editing, safety monitoring, quality/patient data collection and monitoring. Complies with governmental regulations and reporting. Provides input into departmental activities. Ensure all actions taken support patient centered care.
  • Position Responsibilities

    • Unit Specific Position Responsibilities
      • Serves as the Receptionist for Behavioral Health Inpatient Unit.
      • Answers calls within three rings and screens telephone calls; processes information, and relays messages as appropriate.
      • Maintains a presence at the main desk at all times unless relieved, greeting customers promptly and courteously, monitoring and managing department access control, patient/staff safety via camera monitoring and door access controls.
      • Demonstrates positive customer relation skills.
      • Prepares and assembles patient records, and maintains various patient logs and related records.
      • Performs editing of employee payroll records in Kronos and maintains confidentiality and security of this information.
      • Performs general clerical support to the department including typing, filing and maintenance of office equipment.
      • Uploads court documents via online court systems, communicates with court to maintain accurate dates/times of court proceedings, notarizes court documents, maintains on-call magistrate/judge list and other related court functions.
      • Conveys a positive image of the medical staff and supports medical center initiatives related to enhancing medical staff relationships.
      • Identifies ways in which to support patient care services to help them work more efficiently and effectively. Thanks critically and problem solves day-to-day issues.
      • Supports lean program/standard work and recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services provided.
      • Sorts and routes incoming and outgoing mail.
      • Performs monthly environmental assessments, quality control/safety checks and reports non-compliance to leadership.
      • Obtains/Maintains/Stocks department supplies and monitors to insure no outdates.
      • Audits and reports staff completion and compliance with core measure documentation.
      • Participates in and supports various departmental/hospital education initiatives.
      • Treats coworkers, customers and patients with respect and dignity and demonstrates PRIDE values in all interactions.
      • Other duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience
    • Required Qualifications (Including any licensure, certification, education):
      • Mandatory Reporter training or within 90 days of hire and must maintain throughout employment.
      • De-escalation training prior to performing direct patient care or within 90 days of hire.
      • Combative Patient Response Team training within 90 days of hire and must maintain throughout employment.
    • Organizational Requirements:
      • Maintain stroke education per regulatory requirements.
    • Preferred Qualifications:
      • Notary Public
      • Clerical experience/and or education
      • High school diploma or GED
    • Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
      • One year experience using Microsoft Office.
      • Skill in the use of office equipment.
      • Ability to interact positively with all departments of the Medical Center.
      • Ability to convey messages in a direct, clear and positive manner.
      • Can deal tactfully with the public; prioritize duties and handle stressful situations.
      • Time management.
      • Ability to maintain confidential information.
    • Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
      • Kronos experience.
      • Two years of behavioral health experience or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
