As a Consumer Loan Processor I, you will:

  • Prepare and review documents for either consumer loan closings or indirect auto funding, ensuring accuracy and compliance with Credit Union policies.
  • Coordinate with members, Consumer Loan Specialists, and dealers to schedule closings, prepare closing packages, and meet contractual timelines.
  • Communicate effectively with members and team members to resolve questions about loan processing, underwriting, funding, or closing.
  • Process loan applications promptly, utilizing tools like DocuSign, remote printing, or mail delivery to facilitate closings.
  • Set up and maintain complete loan files, obtaining required documents (e.g., income verifications, purchase orders, payoffs).
  • Collaborate with the Lending Sales Team and dealers to address underwriting or post-closing conditions.
  • Deliver adverse action notices to borrowers as required, ensuring clear and empathetic communication.
  • Utilize DocuSign software to create and manage forms, ensuring operational efficiency.
  • Produce accurate weekly and monthly reports as directed by management.
  • Book and fund closed loans, ensuring compliance with standards.

Requirements:
  • Education equivalent to a high school diploma or GED; some post-secondary education preferred.
  • 1–3 years of consumer lending, loan processing, or indirect auto funding experience in a credit union or financial institution preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build rapport with members, colleagues, and dealers.
  • Knowledge of either consumer loan policies or indirect auto funding processes, including credit criteria, interest rate calculations, and loan products (e.g., GAP, Debt Cancellation Protection).
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Technologically proficient, with the ability to use loan processing software and tools like DocuSign.
  • Intermediate mathematical skills (decimals, percentages, fractions).
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment while maintaining a positive attitude.
