About This Position

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Reports To: Production Manager

Job Summary: Under guidance of Production Manager, this person will create production schedules, ensure the timely completion of manufacturing processes, and collaborate with stakeholders to optimize production efficiency while meeting customer demands and quality standards.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Workday: Onsite - Monday through Friday.
  • Production Scheduling: Develop and maintain production schedules based on production capacity, material availability, and customer demand.
    • Able to identify and resolve Constraints - Capacity, Resource & Material.
    • Create job paperwork and release work orders to the floor.
    • Analyze capacity for current and forecasted business levels to ensure action is taken to meet demand.
    • Expedites operations that delay schedules and alters schedules to meet unforeseen conditions
  • Coordination: Coordinate with production managers, procurement teams, shop supervisor, and other departments to ensure smooth execution of production plans.
  • Inventory Management: Coordinate with Purchaser and Materials Handlers to prevent shortages or excess stock.
  • Resource Allocation: Allocate resources such as manpower, machinery, and materials effectively to meet production targets.
  • Priority Management: Determine production priorities based on customer orders, production deadlines, and resource availability.
  • Problem Solving: Identify and address any issues or bottlenecks that may arise during production to minimize disruptions.
  • Continuous Improvement: Implement and monitor process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records, including schedules, inventory levels, and assigned reports.
    • Responsible for getting accurate data entered enabling CSRs to get timely delivery dates for their customers.
  • Communication: Communicate production schedules and updates to relevant stakeholders, including production teams, management, and customer service.
    • Communicates schedule changes and impact of changes to appropriate manufacturing personnel
    • Collaborate with purchasing to analyze, forecast and purchase the required materials to satisfy schedules.
    • Runs reports as needed and con?rms with Purchasing to ensure material availability in support of schedule timing
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with safety regulations, quality standards, and company policies throughout the production process.
  • Assist with other duties as required:
    • Assist the Sales and Customer Service with scheduling request, changes, and other inquiries
    • Update product lead times weekly to department managers
    • Other duties as assigned


Supervision:

Minimal; must be able to function independently on projects within the job scope; must manage schedules for optimum results.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field and/or previous experience in a similar role.
  • 3-5 years Proven experience in production scheduling or manufacturing planning – specifically working with an ERP system.
  • Experience interpreting engineering blueprints.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in scheduling software and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and techniques is a plus.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Physical Demands:

Routine physical demands for office environment. Operates personal computer, copier, printer, calculator, and telephone. Prolonged periods of sitting required. Occasional lifting of boxes (up to 25 pounds) may be required as needed. Must be able to ascend and descent stairs and traverse throughout offices and plant areas, as needed.
