Dental Assistant
Job Posting: Dental Assistant Santa Fe IHSPosition: Dental AssistantLocation: Santa Fe Indian Health Service (IHS), Santa Fe, NMSchedule: Monday Friday, 7:30 AM 5:00 PM
Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Dental Assistant to join our team at Santa Fe IHS. The ideal candidate will perform chairside assisting duties and support routine dental procedures in general dentistry. This role requires experience with Dentrix for dental charting and clinical notes, knowledge of dental instruments and materials, and proficiency in digital radiography.
Key Responsibilities:Assist in all routine dental procedures, including restorative, oral surgery, endodontic, and periodontal treatments.Record treatments accurately in Dentrix (dental charting and clinical notes).Clean, package, sterilize, and properly store dental instruments.Prepare patients and operatories for procedures, ensuring proper instrument setup.Operate dental X-ray equipment for intraoral and extraoral digital radiographs.Provide routine prophylaxis, fluoride treatments, and pit and fissure sealants as prescribed.Perform dental laboratory procedures, including pouring and trimming models and fabricating occlusal guards.Assist in taking and recording blood pressure.Maintain clinic supplies, equipment, and inventory.Educate patients on oral health and post-treatment care.Ensure the dental clinic remains clean and fully operational.Perform routine maintenance on dental equipment.Be able to stand, walk, sit, and bend for extended periods.
Qualifications:Previous experience as a Dental Assistant preferred.Knowledge of Dentrix software for charting and documentation.Familiarity with sterilization protocols and dental instrument handling.Ability to take and process digital X-rays.Strong organizational and communication skills.Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical setting.
