About This Position
The Controller will play a critical leadership role in the financial operations of HealthTech Connex and its subsidiaries, including NeuroCatch Inc., NeuroPeak Physiotherapy and Performance Centre, and the CNS Centre for Neurological Studies. Reporting to the Director of Finance, you will be a strategic partner to the CEO and a collaborator across teams, driving financial planning, reporting, and strategy while leading a small team. This role is pivotal in ensuring financial excellence, managing investor relations, and highlighting risks and solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Collaboration
- Act as the right-hand to the Director of Finance and CEO, supporting strategic initiatives and driving financial solutions.
- Lead and develop a small finance team, fostering a culture of collaboration and accountability.
- Assist with funding strategies, investor relations, and financial communication.
- Foster strong relationships with all departments within the startup to ensure accurate financial reporting, support strategic decision-making, and align financial objectives with overall business goals.
- Work within an organisation that’s transitioning culture from start-up to build more rigour around Foundation, Discipline, Structure, Focus, and Communication
Financial Operations
- Oversee accounting operations, including accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Maintain robust accounting policies, internal controls, and compliance with applicable standards.
- Implement and optimize financial systems, including ERP integrations.
- Comfortable managing investor reporting/relationships
- Develop and maintain financial models to project revenue, expenses, and cash flow across multiple revenue streams, ensuring alignment with the startup's growth strategy and financial goals
Strategic Financial Planning
- Drive financial modeling for sales, inventory, and operational forecasting.
- Provide actionable insights to guide leadership decisions and mitigate risks.
- Prepare budgets, forecasts, and performance metrics, ensuring alignment with company goals.
Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure compliance with tax filings, audits, and lender requirements.
- Provide financial analysis for capital investments, pricing strategies, and contracts.
What You Bring
Leadership & Expertise
- Proven track record of leadership in finance, with the ability to communicate effectively and inspire teams.
- CPA designation with 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including management roles.
- Hands-on experience implementing ERP systems like Sage Intacct or NetSuite.
Skills & Attributes
- Exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities, fostering teamwork across departments.
- Experience in financial modeling, investor relations, and strategic planning.
Preferred Experience
- Background in HealthTech or related industries is a strong asset, experience in all 3 of our business lines (HeathTech, Clinical and Clinical trials would be a homerun!)
- Familiar with Grants/ Programs/ Incentives, Eligible Business Corporation Program would be very useful
- Knowledge of Canadian financial reporting standards and regulations.
- Experience with our ERP system Microsoft dynamics and proficient on Jet reports is considered and Asset
- CPA Designated
