Parks Services Manager at Mountain Lake Corp – Lake Wales, Florida
About This Position
The Parks Services Manager reports directly to the Director of Golf Course & Grounds, along with our Head Greenskeeper. Under their supervision, the Park Services Manager will direct & participate in the maintenance of the golf course property & supervision of the maintenance crew & completes related work as required. The Assistance Parks Manager may serve in the capacity of the Director of Greens & Grounds/Head Greenskeeper during their absence.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
- Mowing, edging, weedeating, and blowing common areas in the common areas owned by Mountain Lake (not on residents’ properties). This includes tennis, golf house, Colony House, and croquet surrounds; front entrance to Club, several open lots owned by the Club, grassed triangles, and shooting range.
- Trimming all ornamentals in all common areas throughout the property.
- Irrigation maintenance of all common areas.
- Regular fertilization of common areas as directed by Golf Course & Grounds Manager.
- Spraying weeds in all common area beds as needed.
- Daily setup of driving range (picking and washing range balls; rotating club stands and ball crates; filling crates).
- Daily setup of 5 clay-based tennis courts (blowing off courts and raking, cleaning court lines, treating for algae as needed).
- Daily garbage pickup from Colony House kitchen.
- Monday and Thursday resident garbage pickup (about 110 homes).
- Blowing and cleaning roadways and drains around Park.
- Trash cleanup along Highway 17 as needed adjacent to Club.
- Daily management of all annual and perennial plantings inside and outside of Colony House (geraniums, orchids, macho ferns, palms, etc.).
- Management of a team of 5 in all areas of responsibility.
- Daily communication with Golf Course & Grounds Manager and Senior Assistant Superintendent.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs other work-related duties and special projects as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job assists in and at times, supervises the Golf Course Maintenance team.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL OF:
- Excel, Word, and basic computer operations
- Various chemicals & calibration of pesticides, fertilizers, & herbicides in accordance with the prescribed safety & directions located on the label

- First Aid and applicable safety precautions
ABILITY TO:
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Meet time schedules, deadlines, and plan and organize work
- Work independently to carry out assignments to completion & to carry out assignments with minimal instructions
- Read & interpret chemical labels
- Read, write, and ability to perform basic arithmetic
- Perform calibration of sprayers & spreaders
- Establish & maintain effective working relationships with supervisors; ability to work cooperatively with turf associates, other club department associates, membership & guests
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, and/or REGISTRATIONS
- Valid Florida Driver’s License
- Florida Pesticide Application License or obtain license within 6 months of hire date
