Front Desk - Ottawa Street Pool at PlainfieldPark District – Plainfield, Illinois

The front desk employee is responsible for registering patrons for pool related programs, handling admissions into the facility, and performing opening and closing duties.

Starting hourly rate is $15.50 per hour

General Information for all Pool positions

• The Pool season is from May – August 2026
• Hours vary between 8:00am and 9:00pm depending upon programs and events. Shifts may vary.
• Candidates will be interviewed and may be selected for a pool position based upon candidates’ qualifications.
• The pool environment is an outdoor setting. Staff will be exposed to weather conditions, including cold, rain, and extreme heat. Inclement weather is monitored daily and safety precautions taken when necessary.

Interviews will take place in March. If you are away at school, please indicate on your application the dates of your winter and/or spring break to assist us in scheduling interviews

Pool staff training dates will be held in May prior to the pool opening; dates will be reviewed during the interview process.

• Represents the District as a point of contact with patrons, renters, and participants during programs.
• Assists customers on the phone, in person, and in written form with all processes and questions, providing exceptional customer service experience and promoting Park District services and facilities.
• Enforces general pool rules in all common pool areas; collect and retain prohibited objects for patrons while on pool grounds, and dispel loitering around the counter area
• Ensures confidential use of customer information, including credit card transactions and household account information.
• Assists customers with registrations, facility/shelter booking, membership sales and point of sale transactions.
• Successfully balances receipts and prepares daily bank deposits.
• Establishes and maintains a positive working relationship with residents, customers, vendors, community partners and co-workers.
• Have a solid working knowledge of the RecTrac and WebTrac registration system.
• Accountable for accurately completing all clerical functions accurately and timely according to District guidelines and expectations.
• Responds to internal and external phone calls, e-mails, comments and suggestions in a timely manner.
• Provides accurate information about programs, rentals and registration.
• Maintains cleanliness of front desk area.
• Report to the Facility Manager any repairs and supplies needed.
• Knows, understands and adheres to Park District policies and procedures.
• Maintains a proactive approach to safety and risk management. Report all accidents, incidents and unsafe conditions in a timely manner.
• Performs all job tasks within the rules and guidelines of the District’s safety program.
• Performs any additional related tasks as required.

• Must be 16 years of age.
• C.P.R. and First Aid Certification required; ability to certify at time of hire.
• Must have computer skills and ability to learn registration software and point of sale program.
• Candidate must be dependable and able to possess good judgement in difficult situations
• Must have strong interpersonal skills and work well with the public and other staff.
• Ability to follow direction and work independently.
