Position Summary:
The University of New Mexico's Institute Center for Geospatial and Population Studies (GPS) maintains New Mexico's trafficcrash database for the New Mexico Department of Transportation TrafficSafety Division and serves as theNew Mexico State Demographer's Office. We provide assist New Mexico government agencies, lawmakers and thepublic with in makingdata-driven decisions by providing impartial data and objective analysis accuratetraffic crash information and assist in thedecision-making process by providing data and analysis to traffic safetyofficials, lawmakers, and the public. GPS provides UNM studentswith real-life job skills that will give them a strong, competitive advantageover their peers after graduation.
We are seeking a detail-oriented,self-motivated students from any degree program to contribute their expertisein areas such as data analysis, data entry, verification, geocoding, andpublishing of traffic crash data. In addition to providing support and routinemaintenance of the traffic crash database, students will have ampleopportunities to expand their analysis or programming skills solving real-worldproblems. GPS is looking to hire entry-level Student Data Analysts and trainthem in data collection, GIS, and data analysis work using traffic crash data.Whether you are new to programming or just starting your degree, that's okay,as we can provide onsite training in a variety of languages and programs,including SAS, SQL, and VBA, along with statistical data analysis, dataprocessing and integration, trend analysis, data entry and cleaning, GISservices, web mapping, and geospatial analysis.
This position requires an organized individual with a stronginitiative to learn, attention to detail, and excellent time management skills.In addition to building a marketable resume other jobs perks include flexiblework hours and regular pay increases with marked progress.
