POSITION OVERVIEW

The Corporate Compliance Officer/Privacy Officer (CCO/PO) reports to the Executive Vice President/Chief Legal Officer (CLO) and the SVP/Executive Deputy Counsel. CCO/PO is responsible for developing and overseeing an integrated, network-wide compliance and privacy program to support Acacia Network and its Affiliates. The CCO/PO is responsible for establishing standards and implementing procedures to ensure that the compliance program is effective and efficient in identifying, preventing, detecting and correcting noncompliance with applicable laws and regulations.

This position is dedicated to leading a compliance program that serves the needs of a growing network of organizations, which are committed to promoting the health of all individuals. The CCO/PO must have a strong working knowledge of federal and state regulatory guidelines and standards. The CCO/PO should possess knowledge of compliance standards and policies, audit techniques, regulatory issues, operations and procedures as they relate to Acacia Network.

Ideal candidates for this growth opportunity, will have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree, a master’s degree in business, healthcare administration, public health or equivalent, a Juris Doctorate is preferred.

Eight years of substantial healthcare and progressive compliance experience in healthcare with prior experience in a health system or complex integrated healthcare delivery system is strongly preferred. Certification in Healthcare Compliance is preferred.

KEY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Develop and implement the Acacia Network’s Compliance and Privacy Program which includes a Compliance Plan, monitoring, reporting, and continuous improvement.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with regulations, identifying and documenting regulatory risks and assisting Acacia Network in developing compliance controls
  • Serve as the HIPAA Privacy Officer including oversight for the establishment, implementation and adherence to policies on consumer privacy, confidentiality and release of information.
  • This position involves planning, organization and execution of day-to-day operational compliance activities. Additionally, the CCO/PO will help maintain a strong compliance framework for a growing team. The CCO/PO will work with various operational teams to remediate issues identified through audits and assessments.
  • Work with the Office of Legal Affairs (OLA) staff in all legal and compliance matters
  • Facilitating annual regulatory risk assessment, and providing senior management with recommendations based on the results
  • Draft legal documents as required.
  • Conduct general legal research
  • Implement and train on the Compliance Program and Code of Conduct to all employees
  • Implement innovative solutions that support network wide compliance program
  • Responsible for identifying and assessing areas of compliance risk for Acacia Network, communicating the importance of the Compliance Program to the Senior Manager and line staff
  • Assist in responding to external audits and coordinating response to external audits
  • Assist with conducting internal audits in accordance with the internal audit schedule
  • Manage the Compliance Hotline and lead in investigating any incidents of claims of fraud, theft or employee misconduct generated from the anonymous calls
  • Receive and respond to incident reports or allegations of unethical or improper conduct or business practices, including by conducting investigations independently or in coordination with qualified legal counsel, or by delegating the responsibility for conducting an investigation to other staff, and implement and monitor appropriate corrective action and subsequent compliance.
  • Develop, coordinate, and lead a training program, updated annually, that focuses on the components of the Compliance program and seeks to ensure that all individuals (e.g. Board members, employees, caregivers) are knowledgeable of, and comply with, pertinent standards and Acacia Network’s Compliance Program including adherence to the code of conduct
  • Conduct ongoing employee training and new hire compliance training on the Compliance Program and Code of Conduct to all employees
  • Ability to manage ad-hoc Compliance Projects in a fast-paced environment

REQUIREMENTS

  • Juris Doctor Preferred
  • Ability to use business acumen to exercise good judgment and decision-making.
  • Ability to deal with sensitive issues with diplomacy and discretion.
  • Must be able to multitask with strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and able to communicate both verbally and in written form.
