Director of People Experience at TAS Environmental Services – Irving, Texas
About This Position
TAS Environmental is seeking a strategic, hands-on Director of Human Resources & People Experience (PX) to lead and evolve the organization’s people strategy. This role serves as the Director of PX, responsible for shaping a positive, compliant, and high-performing employee experience across all levels of the organization. The ideal candidate will bring industrial or field-based operational experience, demonstrate strong leadership capability, and thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple concurrent initiatives.
This individual will act as a trusted advisor to executive leadership, proactively offering recommendations for improvement and driving scalable people practices that support operational excellence and business growth. The Director will report to the Chief Operating Officer.
Director of People Experience Job Duties:
- Serve as the Director of People Experience (PX), leading the overall people strategy and employee lifecycle
- Lead, mentor, and develop the PX/HR department, fostering a collaborative, high-accountability culture
- Partner with executive leadership to align people initiatives with organizational goals
- Oversee all HR functions including talent acquisition, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, compensation, benefits, and training
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, as well as industry-specific regulations
- Develop, implement, and maintain policies and procedures tailored to an industrial and field-based workforce
- Support the Talent Acquisition team in design and execution of recruitment and retention strategies for skilled labor, technical, and leadership roles
- Lead succession planning, leadership development, and performance management initiatives
- Support managers with coaching, employee relations, and corrective action processes
- Identify opportunities to improve people processes, systems, and overall employee experience
- Provide actionable insights and recommendations to leadership to enhance efficiency and engagement
- Manage multiple ongoing projects while maintaining effectiveness under pressure
- Travel monthly to visit branch locations to build relationships, support leadership, and ensure consistency in people practices across the organization
- Oversee the administration of employee benefit programs, including health, dental, vision, retirement, leave programs, and wellness initiatives
- Partner with brokers and vendors to evaluate, negotiate, and improve benefit offerings while managing costs
- Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing by supporting and overseeing payroll operations, systems, and vendors
- Maintain compliance with wage and hour laws, payroll tax requirements, and benefit-related regulations
- Serve as a resource for employees and managers regarding benefits and payroll-related inquiries
- All other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s preferred); experience can substitute education
- 8+ years of progressive HR experience, including senior leadership roles
- Experience in industrial, environmental, construction, manufacturing, or similar operational environments strongly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams, influence stakeholders, and drive organizational change
