American Flexible Products maintains ITAR-compliant operations. Due to ITAR regulations, this role is only open to U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents (green card holders) or foreign nationals granted refugee or asylee status. The Regulatory Compliance Specialist – Product & Materials responds to customer inquiries related to material properties and the company’s policies, procedures, and processes that ensure compliance with applicable international, federal, and state regulations. This role supports product and materials compliance efforts by researching, documenting, and maintaining regulatory compliance information based on customer and regulatory requirements.
The Specialist will have working knowledge of directives and regulations such as RoHS, REACH, TSCA, Proposition 65, and required reporting including Conflict Minerals and Environmental and Social Responsibility programs. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong attention to detail, reliability, and a commitment to ensuring customer specifications are met and compliance documentation is accurate, complete, and submitted in a timely manner.
Major Areas of Accountability
- Maintain and follow established procedures and processes that support and continuously improve the company’s product and materials compliance program
- Monitor the Product Compliance inbox and respond efficiently and professionally to internal and external compliance-related requests
- Oversee compliance statuses and declarations of raw materials and customer part requests within applicable online customer or regulatory portals
- Maintain Product Compliance Declarations and ensure required documentation is available to customers as needed
- Complete and respond to survey requests (ie Customer specific, Annual USMCA survey)
- Ensure all compliance documentation is complete, accurate, and properly maintained
- Research, interpret, and maintain applicable regulatory standards, including REACH, RoHS, TSCA, Proposition 65, and Conflict Minerals reporting requirements
- Catalog, track, and manage regulatory data received from suppliers and provided to customers
- Stay informed on new and evolving directives and regulations and communicate potential business impacts related to product, materials, and global compliance standards, including those supporting AS9100 requirements
- Assist with miscellaneous compliance, quality, or documentation-related tasks as needed
- Perform all other duties as assigned to support compliance and quality objectives
Qualifications
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail

- Self-motivated team player who demonstrates initiative and a willingness to seek out regulatory knowledge to meet customer needs
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, make sound decisions, and resolve moderate-level problems accurately and efficiently
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for customer-facing and internal collaboration
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma/GED Required
- Experience working with product, materials, or environmental compliance in a manufacturing or regulated environment
- Familiarity with customer compliance portals, declarations of conformity, and supplier documentation
- Exposure to regulated industries such as aerospace, electronics, medical, or advanced manufacturing
COMPUTER SKILLS:
Proficiency with basic computer skills is required. Experience with Microsoft office suite and ERP systems preferred. Epicor and Assent experience is a plus.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Must be able to communicate (read, write, and speak) fluently in English. Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, safety rules and procedure manuals. Must have the ability to communicate effectively with customers, vendors, team members and leadership staff.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This position requires mostly stationary desk top functions with prolonged periods of time viewing computer screens and small motor movements. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This role is onsite and not eligible to work remotely. This position will be located in the corporate office environment but will spend some time in the manufacturing environment. The work area in the production environment includes exposure to noise, moving machinery and a temperature-controlled environment. The noise level in that work area is usually moderate.
This position is a days, Monday through Friday role fully onsite and not eligible for remote work.
