We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and self‑motivated Claims Specialist to join our team, focusing on marine cargo and auto claims, with additional support for commercial property claims as needed. HDI Global Insurance Company invests in this role through training, licensing, continuing education, and opportunities to participate in industry events.

Key Responsibilities
  • Investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and resolve ocean marine cargo and auto claims, engaging surveyors, adjusters, and specialized experts as needed.
  • Independently resolve claims within assigned authority, ensuring appropriate valuation and timely settlements.
  • Manage and control the work product, utilization, and costs associated with external vendors.
  • Analyze policy coverage and identify potential issues, including opportunities for subrogation recovery.
  • Maintain communication with management regarding complex, severe, or high‑exposure claims.
  • Participate in mediations, arbitrations, negotiations, and litigation activities when required.
  • Provide exceptional service to insureds, brokers, and internal colleagues—domestically and internationally—while nurturing strong business relationships.
  • Share claims insights and lessons learned with internal departments, including underwriting.
  • Assist with commercial property claims as needed.
  • Travel occasionally for claim meetings, negotiations, training, and industry seminars.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
  • Experience handling marine and/or auto claims.
  • Strong insurance contract interpretation abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Effective customer service orientation with the ability to build positive working relationships.
  • Strong organizational and time‑management skills in a dynamic environment.
  • Knowledge of direct insurance and reinsurance business is beneficial.
  • Confident, direct negotiator capable of engaging effectively with insureds and brokers.
  • Innovative thinker who adapts well to shifting priorities.
  • Team‑oriented collaborator with experience working across departments.
  • Commitment to exceeding expectations for internal colleagues and external customers.
  • Openness to change and appreciation for diverse ideas and perspectives.

Additional Requirements
  • 2+ years of marine and/or auto claims handling experience, or equivalent.
  • Industry certifications such as AIC or CPCU preferred.
  • Will work with HDI to complete required adjuster licensing and maintain continuing education credits.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States.

Compensation
The base salary range for this position is $75,000-$85,000, plus eligibility for a performance-based annual bonus. Actual compensation will be based on a variety of factors including experience, education, and location.
