About This Position
The MTSS and Assessment Specialist is a vital member of our K-8 educational team, responsible for leading the development, implementation, and refinement of our Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework and managing school-wide assessment programs. This role ensures that data-driven decision-making guides instructional practices, targeted interventions, and comprehensive student support, fostering academic achievement, positive behavior, and social-emotional well-being for all students across grades K-8. The specialist will work collaboratively with school leadership, teachers, and support staff to identify student needs, monitor progress, and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions.

Master's Degree in Education with an emphasis in Leadership, Special Education, or Data Analysis preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of successful teaching experience in a K-8 setting.
- Educational Leadership, Curriculum & Instruction, or a related field preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in leading or actively participating in MTSS/RTI teams.
- Experience with school-wide assessment coordination and data analysis.
- Experience providing professional development and coaching to adult learners preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Deep understanding of MTSS/RTI frameworks, evidence-based interventions for academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs (K-8).
- Proficiency in administering, scoring, and interpreting a variety of educational assessments.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and interpret complex data sets.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely to diverse audiences.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with diverse groups of stakeholders (teachers, administrators, parents, students).
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Proficiency with educational technology, data management systems, and presentation software.
Duties and Responsibilities:
MTSS Leadership & Implementation
- Lead the school's MTSS team meetings, including data analysis, problem-solving, intervention planning, and progress monitoring.
- Facilitate the identification of students requiring academic, behavioral, and social-emotional support across all tiers (Tier 1, 2, and 3).
- Collaborate with teachers to select, implement, and monitor evidence-based interventions for students in need.
- Develop and oversee systems for systematic progress monitoring of students receiving interventions, ensuring data is collected, analyzed, and used to adjust support plans.
- Provide professional development and coaching to teachers and staff on MTSS principles, intervention strategies, data interpretation, and fidelity of implementation.
- Ensure alignment between MTSS processes and special education referral procedures.
- Maintain accurate and organized records of MTSS meetings, intervention plans, and student progress data.
Assessment Management & Data Analysis
- Coordinate the administration of school-wide assessments, including universal screeners, diagnostic assessments, progress monitoring tools, and summative assessments (e.g., state tests).
- Develop and implement efficient systems for collecting, organizing, and managing assessment data.
- Conduct comprehensive data analysis to identify trends, strengths, and areas for improvement in student learning and behavior across grade levels and subgroups.
- Generate clear, actionable reports on assessment results for school leadership, teachers, parents, and district stakeholders.
- Provide professional development and support to staff on effective assessment administration, data interpretation, and using assessment data to inform instructional planning and intervention selection.
- Ensure compliance with all district, state, and federal assessment guidelines and regulations.
- Research and recommend appropriate assessment tools and resources to enhance the school's data collection and analysis capabilities.
Collaboration & Communication
- Serve as a primary resource and point of contact for staff regarding MTSS processes and assessment data.
- Collaborate effectively with school administration, grade-level teams, special education staff, and other support personnel.
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress, intervention plans, and assessment results as appropriate.
- Participate in relevant district-level meetings and professional learning communities related to MTSS and assessment.
