About This Position
The Configuration Technician is responsible for configuring computer hardware and software in line with platform documentation, internal procedures and production standards. The role supports the delivery of customer-specific system builds by installing operating systems, applying firmware and software images, and assisting with hardware assembly and troubleshooting activities.
The role contributes to operational efficiency, product quality and customer satisfaction.

- Install and configure operating systems across a wide range of hardware.
- Ability to recognise RAID configurations through a terminal.
- Install or update system BIOS and firmware according to documented procedures.
- Installation of software images using internal deployment tools (e.g. PXE environments).
- Diagnose and differentiate between hardware and software issues during system configuration.
- Perform troubleshooting tasks such for hardware issues, such as reseating CPUs, memory and verifying cable connections.
- Communicate technical or production issues to relevant teams including Production, Engineering and Sales where appropriate.
- Assemble computer hardware in accordance with build documentation and quality standards.
- Identify, label and quarantine defective or non-conforming hardware.
- Conduct visual inspections of completed systems and accessories to ensure quality standards are met.
- Support other production activities, including assembly or related operational tasks, where required.
- Follow all company health, safety and quality procedures.

Physical Requirements
The role involves manual handling of computer equipment and components. The post holder may be required to safely lift or move equipment weighing up to approximately 20 kg in line with manual handling guidance and training. Reasonable adjustments will be considered where required.
Working Hours
The standard working hours for this role are 8.00 am to 4.30 pm, Monday to Friday.
Occasional evening or weekend work may be required to support business needs or client activities. Any such arrangements will be managed in accordance with company policy and applicable employment legislation.
£35,000 - £40,000 a year
