ABOUT THE POSITION
The Extrusion Technician I is an entry-level role within the extrusion department responsible for safely packing, inspecting, and handling finished product while supporting extrusion operations. This position plays a key role in maintaining product quality, production flow, and housekeeping standards. The role provides hands-on exposure to extrusion processes and serves as a developmental position for employees seeking advancement within the extrusion career path.
JOB FUNCTION/PURPOSE:
The Extrusion Technician I is responsible for supporting extrusion operations by safely packing, inspecting, and handling finished product while assisting with basic production activities. The purpose of this role is to ensure product quality, maintain efficient production flow, and support a safe and organized work environment while developing foundational skills for advancement within the extrusion department.
ESSENTIAL TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Safely pack, bundle, and label extruded product according to work instructions and customer specifications.
Visually inspect product for defects, damage, or quality concerns and report issues to the Extrusion Operator or Supervisor.
Support extrusion line operations by assisting with material handling, line clean-up, and equipment preparation under direction.
Maintain consistent production flow by keeping packing areas organized and free of obstructions.
Accurately complete required production, scrap, and packing documentation.
Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and plant policies at all times.
Identify and report unsafe conditions, near misses, or equipment concerns immediately.
Maintain housekeeping standards in accordance with 5S and department expectations.
Work collaboratively with team members to meet production, quality, and safety goals.
Participate in training and demonstrate willingness to learn extrusion processes and equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or GED preferred.
Previous manufacturing, production, or packing experience preferred but not required.
Ability to follow written and verbal work instructions.
Basic understanding of workplace safety practices and quality standards.
Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
Ability to lift, push, or pull materials in accordance with job requirements.
Basic math skills and attention to detail.
Willingness to learn extrusion processes, materials, and equipment.
Reliable attendance and ability to work assigned shifts, including overtime as required
