CNC MACHINIST III
OVERVIEW
The CNC Machines can expect to work both software and hardware, conduct tests and inspections of products, services, and software systems, and repair faulty programs/machinery.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Programs and operates a multi-axis CNC mill.
- Develops programs in Mastercam or similar systems from Solidworks CAD models.
- Produces tight tolerance high quality parts from models and programs.
- Is self-directed and motivated to accomplish tasks with minimal direct supervision.
- Maintains the CNC machine and area in a clean and orderly fashion.
- Specifies and recommends required tooling and work holding for various projects.
- Collaborates with engineers promoting design for manufacture on projects.
- Effectively estimates timelines on machining tasks and works to timely completion.
- Supports tool room activities utilizing the CNC machine to produce fixtures etc.
- All other duties assigned by the supervisor.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
- 5+ years relevant experience
- Mastercam experience
- Have an above-average aptitude for trigonometry, geometry, statistics and algebra, excellent computer and interpersonal communication skills, physical stamina and a keen interest in production and processing.
- Micrometer & Caliper using and understanding.
- CNC lathe.
- Experience in using CNC machines (lathe and milling).
- Ability to use precision measuring instruments.
- GD&T Understanding (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
- CAM programming Skills or experience programming computer software that controls machines used in manufacturing.
- Mechanical knowledge or experience working with mechanical systems, tools, or machines.
- CNC programming or experience programing CNC’s machines used in manufacturing.
- Tooling, experience with designing, engineering and creating new tools in a manufacturing environment.
- CAD used computer -aided design software for creating, modifying, analyzing, or optimizing digital rendering of a design.
- SolidWorks, understanding of SolidWorks used to create 3D solid models for design applications. Runs on Microsoft Windows understanding and experience.
- Assembly experience for products in a manufacturing, production and warehouse environment.
- Basic math: Knowledge of basic mathematical concepts.
- Blueprint reading: Skills or experience interpreting blueprints.
- CMM: Experience operating a coordinate measuring machine.
- Hand tools: Experience with or knowledge of using hand-powered tools.
- Welding: Skill or experience with welding.
- Bore gauges: Measuring instrument used to measure holes.
- EDM: Electrical discharge machining skills and expertise for setting them up, programming, operating, maintaining or repairing.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
Up to 10% travel may be required
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this job, employees may be required to walk for prolonged periods of time, occasionally bending, climbing, rotating, squatting, reaching, kneeling, or stooping, lifting up to 40 pounds, and periods of computer use.
Employees may be frequently exposed to heat/cold, heights, gases, vibration, dust, chemicals, odors, dampness, fumes, and noises.
