NexGen is looking for a Batch-Plant Assistant Superintendent to join their growing team! This position is travel-based.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required.

  • Minimum 8 years of experience operating and managing high-production portable concrete batch plants in large-scale construction environments.
  • Extensive knowledge of concrete mix designs, batching systems, and quality control procedures.
  • Experience in preventative and routine maintenance of batch plant equipment, with the ability to perform hands-on maintenance and minor repairs.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to train, mentor, and oversee batch plant personnel.
  • Familiarity with OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations governing batch plant operations.
  • Proficient in using batching software, material tracking systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical and operational issues related to batch plant equipment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to coordinate with project management, suppliers, and field teams.
  • Solution-oriented mindset with a commitment to teamwork and promoting the success of the broader team.
  • Willingness to travel up to 100% based on project location and requirements.
  • Familiarity with CEMCO batch plants and Jonel batch control systems is a plus

What we expect… (Essential Functions)

  • Oversee, manage, and perform the daily operation of the batch plant to ensure continuous and efficient production.
  • Supervise batch plant personnel, providing leadership, training, and performance management.
  • Monitor plant performance, identifying and addressing operational inefficiencies to maximize uptime and productivity.
  • Develop and execute the preventative maintenance program, ensuring all equipment is properly maintained to avoid unexpected downtime.
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of batch plant equipment, including silos, conveyors, hoppers, mixers, and other plant systems.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements, including lock-out/tag-out procedures and OSHA standards.
  • Manage on-site inventory of raw materials, including cement, aggregates, and admixtures, ensuring adequate stock levels for continuous operation.
  • Proactively order and coordinate deliveries of raw materials to minimize waste and downtime.
  • Maintain detailed records of materials received, consumed, and stored for financial and operational reporting.
  • Ensure all concrete produced meets project specifications and industry standards (ACI, ASTM, and DOT requirements).
  • Conduct regular testing of materials, including aggregate moisture testing and batch adjustments, to maintain quality control.
  • Work closely with Quality Control personnel to resolve material issues and make necessary mix design adjustments.
  • Implement and oversee preventative maintenance schedules, while also performing non-specialized repairs and maintenance tasks as needed.
  • Accurately complete daily batch reports, tracking material usage, production output, and any operational issues.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of equipment maintenance, calibration logs, and plant inspections.
  • Provide regular updates to project management and field leadership regarding plant performance, material inventory, and operational challenges.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Generally, normal office environment where noise level is moderate and temperature/humidity is controlled. Overtime may be required.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position will have supervisory responsibilities over plant personnel.
