About This Position
Fanny Edel Falk Laboratory School, a coeducational K-8 laboratory school in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, is seeking one full-time K-5 Educator to join a collaborative, inquiry-driven faculty beginning the next academic year.
Candidates should have successful teaching experience in an elementary classroom setting, including experience in unit planning across all relevant content areas. Successful candidates will be educators who are responsive to children’s diverse strengths and needs, and who understand the importance of building strong, respectful partnerships with families.
We seek a teacher who demonstrates an authentic passion for progressive education, including inquiry-based and student-centered learning, and who values exploration as a core component of teaching and learning. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated, lifelong learner who is eager to work in an intellectually demanding environment with high expectations.
This position involves close collaboration with colleagues and student teachers; therefore, strong communication skills, flexibility, and openness to multiple perspectives are essential.
Teaching Responsibilities
Responsible for teaching students for 170 school days during your contract period.
Service Responsibilities
Falk teachers are expected to contribute to program areas, including supporting program admissions, engaging in program development and revision, and meeting any PDE requirements (including accreditation). It is also expected that they contribute in other substantive ways to their department as needed.
Other Responsibilities
Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Participating in department and schoolwide faculty meetings
Securing and maintaining all necessary clearances (e.g., PA Child Abuse History), which require updates every 5 years
Being a collaborative partner with other faculty members
A Bachelor’s degree is required. A Master’s degree, or demonstrated progress toward a master’s degree in teacher education or a related field, is preferred. Broad experience is advantageous, as collaboration across disciplines and grade levels is a valued practice at Falk. Highly creative work experience in elementary education is considered an asset.

The minimum base salary is $50,000; credit will be given for years of relevant experience.
