Position Summary:
The Maintenance Manager is responsible for leading all maintenance activities at the facility to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations. This role oversees preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs with a strong emphasis on dust collection systems, critical process equipment, and regulatory compliance. The Maintenance Manager drives equipment reliability, controls maintenance costs, and leads a skilled maintenance team while partnering closely with Operations, Engineering, and EHS.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance & Reliability
- Lead and manage all preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities for plant equipment and infrastructure.
- Ensure high availability and reliability of dust collection systems, including baghouses, ductwork, fans, and emissions control equipment critical to silicon metal production.
- Develop and continuously improve maintenance strategies to reduce unplanned downtime and extend asset life.
- Prioritize work orders and allocate resources to meet production and safety needs.
- Oversee root cause analysis (RCA) for equipment failures and implement permanent corrective actions.
Safety, Environmental & Compliance
- Champion a strong safety-first culture, ensuring all maintenance activities comply with company safety standards and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure dust collection systems meet environmental, health, and air quality regulations.
- Participate in audits, inspections, and incident investigations; implement corrective actions as required.
- Enforce housekeeping and dust control standards to minimize risk
Leadership & Communication
- Lead, coach, and develop maintenance supervisors, technicians, and contractors.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with Operations, Engineering, EHS, and external vendors.
- Set clear expectations, hold team members accountable, and foster teamwork and professionalism.
- Support training initiatives to build technical capability and reliability discipline within the maintenance team.
Planning, Budgeting & Continuous Improvement
- Manage the maintenance budget, including labor, parts, and capital projects.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on cost reduction, reliability improvement, and efficiency.
- Support capital projects, equipment upgrades, and major shutdowns/turnarounds.
- Establish and track KPIs such as equipment uptime, PM compliance, maintenance cost, and safety metrics.
Systems & Technology
- Utilize SAP (or similar CMMS) to plan, schedule, track, and analyze maintenance work.
- Ensure accurate documentation of work orders, PMs, spare parts, and asset history.
- Leverage data and reports to support decision-making and continuous improvement.
- Maintain strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Maintenance Management, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).
- 5–10+ years of progressive maintenance leadership experience in a heavy industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Strong technical knowledge of dust collection systems, mechanical equipment, electrical systems, and industrial maintenance practices.
- Demonstrated experience leading preventative and corrective maintenance programs.
- Proficiency with SAP or similar CMMS systems.
- High level of rigor, discipline, and dedication to operational excellence and safety.
- Experience in silicon metal, metals, mining, or high-temperature process industries. Ideal but not required
- Experience with Electric Arc Furnaces Ideal but not required
- Experience with electrical systems, especially high voltage applications Ideal but not required
- Reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) or TPM experience. Ideal but not required
- Knowledge of environmental compliance related to dust and emissions control. Ideal but not required
- Union or multi-skilled workforce leadership experience. Ideal but not required
