We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Pediatric Phlebotomist to join our healthcare team on a part-time basis. This role supports pediatric clinical services with a strong focus on phlebotomy and lead testing . The ideal candidate has experience working with children and families, values clinical quality and is skilled in performing blood draws in a calm, reassuring manner. Experience with lead testing and other pediatric screenings is highly preferred.
Schedule & Work Environment
Part-time position, 2 days per week
Daytime hours
Clinical or community-based pediatric setting
What You'll Do:- Perform capillary and venipuncture blood draws on toddlers, children, and adolescents
- Conduct pediatric lead testing (fingerstick and/or venous collection) in accordance with clinical and regulatory guidelines
- Accurately label, process, and prepare specimens for laboratory testing
- Follow all infection control, safety, and HIPAA guidelines
- Provide emotional support and age-appropriate explanations to patients and caregivers
- Maintain clean, organized, and well-stocked phlebotomy areas
- Document procedures and results accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR)
- Collaborate with nursing staff, teachers, school staff, and laboratory personnel to ensure quality patient care
- Address all inquiries in a professional and courteous way
- Ensure all clinic procedures are adhered to and completed in a timely manner in line with clinic needs
- Communicate effectively with caregivers, clinical staff, and leadership
- Assist with any other clinic duties as required, including supporting other team members inclusive of our Health Care Workers
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Completion of an accredited phlebotomy training program
- Current phlebotomy certification (CPT, RPT, or equivalent), preferred or required based on facility standards
- Experience in pediatric primary care, public health, school-based, or community health settings
- Proven experience performing pediatric blood draws
- Experience with pediatric lead testing and public health screening protocols preferred
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to remain calm, patient, and professional in high-stress or sensitive situations
- Ability to enter data accurately
- Ability to use Word, Excel, Email, Internet, and in house systems
- Ability to drive between multiple clinic sites and have responsibility for various sites
- Strong attention to detail and interpersonal communication skills
- The ideal candidate must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Manual dexterity to perform precise venipuncture and capillary collection
- Must be able to lift and carry or otherwise move 25 pounds regularly
- Must be able to wear personal protective gear most of the day.
- Must be able to stand most of the day on concrete or hard floors.
- Physical ability to work around children
- Repeating motions that may include the wrist, hands and/or fingers.
- Physically traveling from one work site to another
