YARD COORDINATOR, SECURE PARKING

Department: Secure Parking

Position Title: Yard Coordinator

Reports To: Yard Supervisor, Secure Parking

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Job Location: Newark, NJ and Savannah, GA

General Summary

Reporting to the Yard Supervisor, the Yard Coordinator (YC) plays a key role in the organization and security of the Secure Parking yard during their assigned shift. The YC is responsible for operating company equipment, including the yard switcher, pickup truck, and container forklift, while also assisting in special projects and yard maintenance tasks. This role may entail various additional duties as needed to ensure the smooth operation of the yard.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

• Safely and efficiently operate equipment while meeting productivity and service level expectations
• Arrange units in the yard to ensure space is optimized, including maneuvering in tight spaces
• Enforce yard rules and safety regulations for drivers, vendors, and visitors
• Assist and guide customer drivers performing pick-ups and drop-offs
• Process gate transactions and perform security checks and inventory counts
• Undertake yard maintenance work such as sweeping, pothole repairs, painting, and weed cutting
• Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and secure yard at all times
• Cross-train and become proficient in various aspects of the Secure Parking operation

• Assist in implementing emergency procedures as directed by management
• Properly use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

• Deescalate conflicts that may arise with customers and vendors in the yard

Minimum Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent

• Valid driver’s license in good standing
• Willingness to work overtime, including off-hours “call-ins” and some holidays
• Ability to work in variable weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, wind, etc.
• Strong work ethic and effective communication skills
• Working English language proficiency

Employment is contingent on the successful completion of due-diligence inquiries, including a background check and a pre-employment medical examination that includes a drug and alcohol screen, conducted after a conditional offer is made.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Switcher or Forklift experience
• Warehouse experience
• Basic computer aptitude

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position in a 24/7/365 operation. Employees may be assigned work shifts including weekends and holidays and may be required to work overtime.
