About This Position

Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Technology to lead our technology operations and infrastructure strategy. This role oversees all aspects of technology performance, including cloud infrastructure, systems operations, cybersecurity, service delivery, vendor management, and technology staff leadership. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership capabilities, strategic thinking, and a proven track record of driving innovation, operational excellence, and scalable business growth through technology solutions.

Company History:
Founded in 2008; we are a temperature controls HVAC company. In 2015 we purchased Technical Energy Solutions, another great controls group. We have 3 branch locations being Grand Rapids, Alpena, and Rochester Hills.

Responsibilities and Duties
Director
• Align the appropriate technology/strategy to meet the business requirements for each department and make sure they align with the overall business objectives.
• Overseeing all IT operations including staff and infrastructure.
• Evaluating, developing, and implementing IT projects in line with organizational objectives.
• Preparing financial budgets and performance reports.
• Devise and establish IT policies and systems to support the implementation of strategies set by upper management
• Analyzing existing operations, protocols, and processes, and making plans for improvement.
• Building and maintaining relationships with external advisors and vendors.
• Ensuring reported issues are resolved in a timely manner.
• Conducting research, attending workshops, and networking with other professionals in the industry.
Security
• Evaluate, resolve and proactively maintain security vulnerabilities throughout the IT infrastructure, internally and in the private cloud.
• Installing, administering, and troubleshooting network security solutions.
• Updating software with the latest security patches and ensuring the proper defenses are present for each network resource.
• Configuring building security systems, analyzing security requirements, and recommending improvements.
• Creating network policies and authorization roles and defending against unauthorized access, modifications, and destruction.
• Consulting with staff, managers, and executives about the best security practices and providing technical advice.
• Configuring and supporting security tools, such as firewalls and anti-virus software.
• Monitor and maintain file security in private cloud.
• Configuring and supporting security tools, such as firewalls and anti-virus software.
• Training staff to understand and use security protocols.
System Administrator
• Install hardware and software.
• Configure PCs to use the company standard profile according to job function.
• Make upgrades and repairs as needed.
• Perform maintenance for all systems in operation.
• Collect and analyze data to optimize performance.
• Onboard and offboard users to internal systems and applications.
• Train users on hardware and software.
• Troubleshoot problems with the system.
• Oversee local area network and wide area network.
• Manage and maintain licenses for internal systems and customer
• Organizing, prioritizing and dispatching service tickets for Support Specialist.
Support Specialist
• Advising users on appropriate procedures for directing their IT-related queries and recommendations.
• Troubleshooting and resolving IT issues in a timely manner.
• Communicating with users to diagnose problems.
• Installing and configuring hardware and software.
• Talking users through the process of fixing technical issues.
• Prioritize workload to ensure the most critical issues are resolved first.
• Documenting common support procedures that users can follow.
• Providing support remotely when users are working on clients’ sites.

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (Master’s preferred). Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, Security+, • • • Network+, ITIL, or cloud certifications strongly preferred.
• 8–10+ years of progressive IT experience, including 5+ years in a leadership role overseeing infrastructure, cybersecurity, and IT operations.
• Proven experience aligning technology strategy with business objectives, managing budgets, vendors, and enterprise IT projects.
• Strong knowledge of private cloud environments, network architecture (LAN/WAN), firewalls, endpoint security, vulnerability management, and disaster recovery.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and develop technical teams, manage service delivery, and implement IT policies and governance frameworks.
