Summary:

The Director of Patient Services Strategy leads the design, development, and execution of rare disease patient support and access programs to enhance treatment experience, improve access, and foster patient engagement. This role acts as a critical link between brand marketing, market access, sales, legal and compliance and patient services, aligning cross-functional strategies to optimize patient access and experience often focusing on building and launching complex patient journeys and treatment center support programs or improving existing ones. Ideal candidate would have some combination of strategy experience in patient services, field reimbursement, or market access of a rare disease buy-and-bill product.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement best-in-class rare disease strategies to support existing weekly infused Duchenne muscular dystrophy product and support patient services in developing launch strategies for complex patient journeys and leveraging market access, distribution, patient support programs for alignment and improved engagement.
  • Serve as the bridge between Patient Services and commercial teams including marketing, sales, market access, trade, distribution, legal and compliance, aligning goals and driving execution of best-in-class patient services support.
  • Develop Authorized Treatment Center strategy to support complex patient journey for rare disease product launches, inclusive of network development, onboarding, and training.
  • Develop ATC launch readiness materials including office billing/coding tools, access and patient journey navigational guides, and product preparation/administration education in partnership with medical, marketing, market access, and external vendors.
  • Enhance patient support programs including bridge, copay and patient assistance for efficiency, ensuring scalability, compliance, and superior service delivery.
  • Analyze patient journey data with the commercial operations team to identify needs, and create, prioritize, and execute strategic initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in rare disease patient services marketing, patient support services, or market access strategy.
  • Extensive knowledge of the procurement models, buy and bill and specialty pharmacy distribution.
  • Superior knowledge of prior authorization, denial, appeal, peer-to-peer process for treatment approval of an infused product.
  • Strong ability to lead cross-functional teams, influence stakeholders, and manage in high-pressure environments.
  • Ability to map patient journeys and translate them into actionable, innovative, and patient-centered programs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for executive-level presentations and strategic counselling.
  • Experience in managing external vendors and consulting agencies

Education & Experience:

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; a Master’s in Healthcare Administration (MHA) or Business Administration (MBA) is often preferred.
  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical and/or biotechnology industries particularly within the field of patient services.
  • Must have knowledge of prior authorization, appeal, denial process for a buy-and-bill product.
  • Rare disease launch experience including commercialization of new therapeutic products required, neuroscience, neuromuscular experience a plus.
  • Familiarity with general materials development and legal/regulatory/medical review process
  • Strong project management abilities, including planning, execution, and performance tracking
  • Exceptional collaboration skills across departments to deliver complex initiatives having cross-functional impact.
  • Embracing a One Team mindset where success is measured by an improved patient experience.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a group involving stakeholders with a variety of technical and non-technical backgrounds.
  • Must have strong MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills.

The annualized target salary range for this role is $195,000,000 to $215,000; actual salaries will vary and may be above or below this range depending on several factors, including experience, education, training, location, and merit.
