Position Overview: This management role provides leadership and direction to construction crews, rendering hands-on assistance. Accountable for all aspects of each project to which crews are assigned. Responsible for field operations, customer relations and business development in an assigned area, territory, customer or project. Manage the operations with focus to safety, compliance, efficiency, cost management and innovation. Manage construction activities to ensure company procedures are followed and compliance is maintained relative to all applicable local, state and federal regulatory requirements.
Essential Functions:
- Champion own safety by modeling behaviors, maintaining a drug free work environment and performing corrective action when appropriate
- Serve as point of contact with customers, subcontractors and vendors
- Manage and oversee the execution of field deliverables according to customer specifications and contract requirements
- Manage the planning and executing of projects and contracts by organizing work methods and developing schedules
- Manage cost control, margin expectations, productivity, change orders and equipment reporting
- Model outstanding leadership skills and foster those skills in others
- Manage and develop labor and employee relations
- Develop and maintain business relationships including attending customer meetings and prepare pre-qualification documents, proposals and bids
- Maintain liaison with operations to ensure all required materials and equipment support project activities and schedule
- Ensure all project work is compliant with installation standards and is being performed safely and correctly
- Directly responsible for managing office functions and personnel
- Exercise decision-making authority
- Promote and monitor the safety team members
- Oversees field support analyst in particular area
- Assists Operations Manager as necessary
Qualifications:
Required:
- 5+ years of experience leading multiple crews in gas utility construction operations
- Proven history of high productivity and ability to consistently meet or exceed production targets
- Experience in contract growth and operational buildout, including scaling crews and resources
- Strong background in natural gas distribution construction, including mainline, service, and tie-in work
- Demonstrated ability to manage labor efficiency, equipment utilization, and job costing to maintain profitability
- Experience coordinating with utility clients, inspectors, and municipalities to ensure compliance and schedule adherence
- Proven ability to develop and mentor foremen and field personnel to improve performance and leadership capability
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously, including scheduling, material coordination, and subcontractor oversight
Preferred: Strong interpersonal, team-oriented skills, capable of performing horizontal directional drilling installation, self-motivation and direction, with strong bias toward timely performance and problem resolution
