Here’s the Gist

In this position within Wolfspeed’s Power Device Technology Development department, you will be leading the Modeling efforts of SiC Power Devices, with an emphasis on physics based, predictive, statistical device model development. The device modeling responsibilities include physics modeling using TCAD tools, and circuit modeling using LTSPICE and Verilog-A languages. You will be participating in all aspects of silicon carbide power device development, which include device design and characterization. You will interact with key customers as well as colleagues from Applications, Device Design, Test and Validation, Reliability, and New Product Introduction to master understanding of the full product life cycle of the new technologies.

The Day-to-Day:

  • Lead development efforts in physics based, predictive and statistical device modeling for a wide variety of Silicon Carbide power devices.
  • Develop advanced modeling methodologies to accurately represent behaviors of SiC power devices in power systems using LTSPICE and Verilog-A.
  • Develop automated model parameter extraction methods with good fitment using experimental and virtual (TCAD) structures.
  • Perform TCAD calibration for accurate device physics modeling
  • Participate in power device characterization methods (static and dynamic), and test structure development for model parameter extraction.
  • Participate in device development by providing insights into static and dynamic device behavior
  • Prepare technical presentations and papers for meetings (internal and external), as well as conferences and journals.

This Job is Right for You if You Have (Minimum Requirements):

  • Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, Solid State Physics, or closely related area.
  • Strong understanding of power semiconductor device structures and physics, including Power MOSFETs, IGBTs, and PiN diodes.
  • Strong understanding of power electronic circuits
  • Working knowledge of TCAD tools and associated programming
  • Proficiency in LTSPICE and Verilog-A programming languages
  • Proficiency in Python programming language
  • Experience in power semiconductor device characterization
  • Excellent data interpretation skills
  • Excellent communications and presentations skills
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.A.
