What Are We Looking For?
NHUC Corporate Health and Wellness is currently looking for a licensed practical nurse (LPN) to join our team. During onsite events, the LPN prepares the patient for visit, shows patient to treatment area, takes vital signs, performs blood draws, administers vaccines, and completes other clinical tasks as needed. The LPN may also occasionally perform the duties of a patient services representative (PSR) and handle administrative duties to support the department.
Job Responsibilities
  1. Travels throughout the assigned regions within South Carolina to perform the duties of a Licensed Practical Nurse at assigned Corporate Health & Wellness events. Overnight stays will be required at times.
  2. Recognizes patient distress and takes appropriate action. Communicates by phone, correspondence, or personal meetings with persons in other departments or outside the practice; tact is required in these interactions, and the employee assumes the responsibility for harmonious relationships.
  3. Maintains an optimistic, professional career-oriented demeanor (positive role model) and complies with department dress code rules. Exemplifies excellent customer service relations with patients and co-workers. Serves as an exemplary representative of Novant Health Urgent Care and Physical Therapy within the community.
  4. Operates general office equipment such as personal computer, scanner, copier, fax machine, etc. Effectively utilizes EMR and patient registration software.
  5. Supports Corporate Health & Wellness Team by:
    1. Administrative Duties for Onsite Events
      1. Sets up and breaks down of onsite events
      2. Orders labs and prints requisitions
      3. Labels tubes with patient information
      4. Enters biometric data in EMR system
    2. Laboratory
      1. Phlebotomy – blood draws
        1. Prepares patient for blood draws
        2. Verifies patient identity
        3. Ensures proper labeling of collection vials
        4. Conducts blood draws
        5. Practices proper handling of blood samples
      2. Collects and processes urine specimen
      3. Administers vaccines
      4. Provides results reporting
    3. Patient Care
      1. Prepares and maintains station
      2. Conducts patient interview
      3. Assists patients as needed
      4. Provides patient education
      5. Provides results reports
      6. Ensures accuracy of clinical documentation
    4. Operating Equipment (including but not limited to routine maintenance, log sheets, and cleaning)
      1. Operates clinical and office equipment:
        1. General office equipment (computer, fax machine, copier etc)
        2. Patient care equipment (BP, scales, etc)
        3. Specialized equipment
        4. Laboratory processing equipment
        5. Automatic External Defibrillator (AED)
      2. Participates in in-service and education sessions for appropriate center equipment operations
      3. Obtains and maintains applicable certification and licensure for operating medical equipment as applicable
      4. Completes required annual training
    5. Instruments
      1. Stocks appropriately and maintains levels
      2. Maintains knowledge of and usage
      3. Ensures proper storage
  6. Other duties as assigned.
Do You Have What It Takes?
A good candidate will bring with them:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing.
  • Experience: two (2) years of experience as an LPN preferred.
  • Must be licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in South Carolina;
  • BLS or ACLS
  • Willing to work at various locations throughout South Carolina and flexible to travel and complete overnight stays on an as needed basis
  • Experience with taking vitals, phlebotomy, and vaccine administration
  • General knowledge of medical ethics and confidentiality
  • Computer skills and knowledge of basic medical terminology
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, along with proper telephone etiquette
  • Displays tact and professionalism at all times
  • A team player and a self-starter. Able to work independently and efficiently.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task.
  • Excellent customer service skills both with patients and company contacts.
An ideal candidate would also have:
  • Experience working with health and/or wellness events
