Veterinary Assistant at Animal Outpatient Specialty Network – Oviedo, Florida

Van Lue Veterinary Surgical is a surgical referral practice seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join our team. Previous veterinary experience is preferred.

We are seeking an individual who can multi-task and maintain a professional demeanor in a sometimes-stressful environment. You must be flexible and willing to take on diverse responsibilities, with a desire to grow professionally. The ideal candidate is a confident team player who is excited to advance their veterinary surgical and medical knowledge and is willing to provide input and ideas based on knowledge and prior experience.

Duties: The responsibilities of a Veterinary Assistant in our practice are to assist our surgeons and veterinary nurses/technicians with the daily operation and cleaning of our facility. This includes:

• Assisting with patient treatments, husbandry, and restraint
• General cleaning of the hospital and turn over of the operating room in between surgeries.
• Laundry
• Restocking hospital disposables
• Instrument care and cleaning
• Run in-house lab samples
• Machine/equipment maintenance as required

Position requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Computer and typing skills
• Basic knowledge of veterinary terminology and procedures
• Lifting and carrying patients and equipment up to 50 lbs unassisted and ability to sit/stand for extended periods of time
• Availability to work 30-35 hours/week, Tuesday through Friday (Fridays and Wednesdays are a must)
