Summer Help at Orcas Island Market – Eastsound, Washington

The Summer Help position is designated for minor employees seeking seasonal employment during the summer months. This role provides support across various departments within Island Market based on business needs. Assignments may include customer service, stocking, food preparation support, and general store upkeep.

This is a temporary position running from June through the end of August, with the potential for continued year-round employment based on performance, availability, and business needs.

We will continue to take application until the end of April and will be scheduling interviews in May.

• Provide friendly, helpful, and respectful customer service in alignment with Island Market standards
• Assist in stocking shelves, rotating product, and maintaining clean, organized displays
• Support assigned departments such as Front End, Deli, Produce, or Grocery as needed
• Maintain cleanliness of work areas, including sweeping, wiping surfaces, and general upkeep
• Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines when working in food areas
• Work collaboratively with team members and take direction from supervisors
• Perform other duties as assigned based on business needs

• Must meet minimum age requirements for employment (per state and federal labor laws)
• Ability to obtain and maintain any required work permits
• Willingness to learn and take direction in a fast-paced environment
• Positive attitude and strong work ethic
• Dependable and able to adhere to scheduled shifts
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays as needed

• Frequently stands and walks for the duration of scheduled shifts (up to 6–8 hours)
• Regularly bends, reaches, and performs light to moderate physical tasks
• Frequently lifts and carries items up to 25 lbs; occasionally up to 40 lbs with assistance
• Uses hands for repetitive tasks such as scanning, stocking, and food preparation
• May push or pull carts or equipment as needed
