Maintenance Technician at Marydale Retirement Village – Newark, Delaware

This on-site position is located in Newark, Delaware. Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Wilmington is seeking Maintenance Technician who will provide maintenance services to residents of Marydale Retirement Village and will assist the Maintenance Supervisor with the care and maintenance of the buildings and grounds. This includes lawn and garden support, unit turnover activities such as painting, cleaning and small repairs, daily maintenance requests from residents, and assistance with set up and clean up for various activities.

The schedule for this part-time position may vary to include three scheduled days per week between the hours of 8:30 am - 4:30 pm and requires rotating on-call availability on Friday evenings, Saturdays, and Sundays, as needed.

Essential Functions:

• Familiar with and able to use simple maintenance tools such as hammer, screwdriver, saw and other basic repair equipment.
• Assist with outside work to complement the outside appearance of Marydale Retirement Village. Use of simple garden tools, power washer and other basic outside equipment may be required (Note: Marydale does employ a weekly landscaping service).
• Assist with unit turnovers as needed, including moving in and out of materials, cleaning and painting units, and other simple repairs which may be required.
• Assist in meeting daily maintenance requests, as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor or Program Manager.
• Perform set up and take down duties for special activities and events, including food distribution and resident programs.
• Perform routine cleaning, janitorial services, and light building maintenance.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School diploma and 3 years of maintenance and grounds duties; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Knowledge of using hand tools and power equipment.
• Ability to interact with Marydale staff and residents in a professional and courteous manner.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision in resident units as assigned.
• Willingness to work collaboratively on maintenance and repair projects requiring a team approach.
• Ability to safeguard access of confidential or sensitive information of data.
• Ability to build trust and rapport with individuals from diverse cultural, socio-economic, and ethnic backgrounds.
• Willingness to consent to a satisfactory criminal background check and drug screening in accordance with applicable laws.
