Position Description: IB Coordinator
Key Responsibilities
Aligned to IB Standards and Practices (2020)
Standard A: Philosophy Purpose and Direction
Promote and model the IB mission, philosophy, and Learner Profile across the school community (A1, A2)
Support leadership and staff in embedding international-mindedness, equity, and global contexts into teaching and learning (A3, A4)
Ensure that HUMSs mission, values, and instructional vision are aligned with IB MYP philosophy (A1, A4) Standard B: Organization Leadership, Structure, and Resources
Serve as the primary liaison between HUMS and the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) (B1)
Coordinate and monitor all MYP candidacy requirements, including timelines, documentation, and IB communications (B2, B3)
Support school leadership in establishing roles, responsibilities, and systems to sustain MYP implementation (B1, B4)
Maintain accurate IB documentation and support preparation for IB visits, consultations, and authorization processes (B2, B3) Standard C: Curriculum Written, Taught, and Assessed
Lead and support the development and refinement of MYP unit planners aligned to subject group requirements and global contexts (C1, C2)
Ensure vertical and horizontal alignment of curriculum across grade levels and subject areas (C1, C3)
Support interdisciplinary learning planning and documentation (C1, C4)
Guide the integration of key and related concepts, global contexts, and Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills into curriculum (C2, C3)
Support alignment between MYP curriculum, DC standards, and HUMS instructional priorities (C1, C3) Standard D: Assessment Measuring and Supporting Student Learning
Support teachers in developing MYP-aligned formative and summative assessments (D1)
Promote consistent use of IB assessment criteria and task-specific clarifications (D1, D2)
Support reflective practices around assessment data to inform instruction and improve student learning (D3)
Ensure assessment practices reflect IB principles of fairness, transparency, and student growth (D2, D3) Professional Learning and Capacity Building (Cross-Cutting)
Facilitate ongoing professional learning related to IB philosophy, MYP framework, and instructional practices (A2, B4)
Coach and support teachers in inquiry-based instruction, reflection, and implementation of MYP practices (C2, C3)
Support onboarding and continued learning for staff related to MYP expectations and documentation (B4)
