Full-Time Sports Turf Arena Maintenance at Fargo Park District – Fargo, North Dakota

This position is responsible for the maintenance and cleanliness of all athletic fields owned by the Fargo Park District during the spring, summer, and fall. This position will work closely with all departments with the Park District. This position will be engaged in construction, repair, and maintenance of all athletic complexes, fields, and facilities. This position will work often with irrigation systems, apply chemicals, operate a wide variety of field maintenance equipment, and assist with training and supervision of part-time seasonal staff. This position is responsible for the beautification, maintenance, and construction of all athletic complexes, fields, and neighborhood athletic fields.

This position will also be responsible for all ice, facility, and equipment maintenance at one of the Park Districts indoor ice facilities from approximately November thru February.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Evaluation of this position is based primarily on performance of the following essential functions, which include, but are not limited to:

• Construction and maintenance of athletic complexes, neighborhood athletic fields, and facilities.
• Operate and maintain all equipment related to field maintenance safely and efficiently.
• Operate, repair, maintain, and troubleshoot irrigation systems and plumbing.
• Properly apply herbicides, pesticides, fungicides, fertilizers, and other chemicals related to field maintenance as directed by the Sports Turf Supervisor and Sports Turf Manager.
• Make field decisions regarding job procedures, work standards, and equipment use.
• Fill out service requests, winter checklists, and maintenance checks.
• Train part-time seasonal staff on monitoring maintenance and servicing equipment to ensure operational standards.
• Winter duties shall include facility and ice maintenance of indoor ice facilities.
• Perform other duties as presented by the Sports Turf/Arena Manager, Sports Turf/Arena Supervisor, Sports Turf/Arena Maintenance III leaders.

• Carries out duties and responsibilities in a safe and efficient manner to maintain safe work environment and surrounding area for oneself, co-workers and public. Responds to hazardous situations and/or potentially unsafe conditions by taking corrective action as capable and promptly notifying supervisory personnel.
• Performs related duties as assigned or apparent.
• Respond to comments from the public and provide information regarding complex cleanliness and related field maintenance items.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Required:

• Two-year degree from an accredited institution in Turfgrass Maintenance or related field. Or
• Minimum of two years of experience in Turfgrass Maintenance or related field.

CREDENTIALS/LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:

• Must possess a valid driver’s license
• Must have or ability to obtain within six months of employment, a North Dakota Pesticide Applicators License.
