This role is a senior, field-based medical affairs position focused on advancing scientific understanding and appropriate use of therapies across a defined territory. The Regional Medical Director serves as a trusted medical expert, engaging with healthcare professionals, academic leaders, and payer stakeholders to deliver balanced, evidence-based information. Operating in a highly collaborative and fast-paced environment, the role combines strategic territory planning with scientific communication and external partnership development. The position plays a key role in identifying knowledge gaps, supporting clinical research initiatives, and strengthening therapeutic area education. It requires strong presence at scientific congresses and ongoing engagement with key opinion leaders. This is a highly impactful role contributing directly to improved patient outcomes through scientific leadership and education.
- Develop and execute a comprehensive regional medical plan aligned with therapeutic area objectives and external stakeholder needs, ensuring effective scientific engagement across the territory.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with healthcare professionals, academic researchers, KOLs, and payer decision-makers through balanced scientific exchange and credible medical information delivery.
- Provide responses to unsolicited medical and scientific inquiries, including discussions on safety data, off-label considerations, and disease state education based on available evidence.
- Deliver scientific presentations and support payer/formulary discussions, ensuring clear communication of clinical data and therapeutic value.
- Identify educational gaps, stakeholder needs, and partnership opportunities while supporting investigator-initiated research and clinical trial activities.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with internal medical and commercial teams to align on strategy, insights, and field execution.
- Maintain deep therapeutic area expertise through continuous literature review, conference participation, and scientific training.
Requirements:
- Advanced healthcare degree such as PharmD, MD, PhD, or equivalent clinical/scientific qualification.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in medical affairs or field medical roles with demonstrated high performance and cross-functional collaboration.
- Strong background in scientific communication, with experience presenting to healthcare providers and payer/formulary audiences.
- Prior exposure to CNS and/or substance use disorder therapeutic areas is highly preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal, networking, and relationship-building skills with the ability to engage credibly with senior scientific and clinical stakeholders.
- Strong ability to interpret clinical data and communicate complex scientific concepts clearly and effectively.
- Solid understanding of clinical research, pharmaceutical development, and regulatory environments.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and adapt in a fast-paced, evolving field environment.
- Willingness to travel 50–60% depending on territory needs, including occasional evening and weekend commitments.
